On behalf of everyone at OSLC we wish Janice Renzoni best wishes in her new opportunity. Janice has been the rock of our clinic for over a decade and she will be dearly missed. Janice has been an incredible support and friend to so many families, her colleagues and of course the kids who she keeps near and dear to her heart. We have a range of PPE options following Ministry of Health protocols for our kids (and we are flexible to meet the needs of children who are unable to tolerate PPE). I like aquaman best!

As many of you know, I have met monthly by teleconference and often in-person with Speech-Language Pathologists across the province for nearly a decade through the Ontario Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists. These therapists are my colleagues and friends and we have leaned on each other, brainstormed and collaborated together in times of celebration and in times of challen...ge. At this time in particular, I am so grateful for this network with their support we have re-imagined how in-person therapy sessions can be fun and effective with health and safety as our priority. At OSLC - we are so happy to have sourced PPE / Health supplies all made in Canada by Local Businesses including our disinfectant (with DIN number approved by Health Canada for COVID19), hand sanitizer, and plexiglass barriers. Our face shields are also approved by Health Canada and have a Class 1 medical device designation. We will communicate our protocols with each family individually to create a customized plan for your unique needs and always following our College and Ministry of Health guidelines. Information will also be posted on our website. Virtual care will continue to be promoted (and we are nearing our 1000th zoom session!). We will also continue to offer therapy using telehealth (750 Zoom therapy sessions and counting!) so you can make the best choice for your family. We have been carefully preparing our health and safety protocols following Ministry of Health guidelines. We will personally discuss our protocols with each family that comes for in-person visits and we will post details on our website. We will be reaching out to our clients who have been waiting for the clinic to re-open to make a plan. We welcome new referrals!

I have been reflecting on I how might drive systemic change and promote equity for the diverse clients we serve at the Orangeville Speech & Language Clinic. As an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) at McMaster Unversity involved in clinical education, I have also been thinking about how to promote equity for the students we supervise as part of their Speech-Language Pathology clinical internships. Tomorrow, I am participating in a training program provided by the Equity a...nd Inclusion Office at McMaster University. This office promotes and supports institution-wide commitments to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, and principles of inclusive excellence, to foster a campus culture and community that respect the human rights, integrity and dignity of all community members. I hope to come from a place of cultural humility to make a difference. See more

WE ARE OFFERING VIDEO THERAPY DURING COVID19 Dear Families, I wanted to reach out to our Clinic Families during this unprecedented time. The health of our clients, staff and community is our priority. We have begun using video / telehealth so that we can continue to provide therapy and support to you during social distancing.... Thank you to the many families who played guinea pig last week to help make our transition to evidence-based telehealth successful. Our eyes have been opened to the amazing, fun and creative possibilities of this medium! Jennifer Wilson, SLP, and Rachel Pond, SLP, will be in touch shortly (if they haven’t already) to discuss telehealth options and guide you through the process. I will be reaching out to my own clients this week to make a plan. We know many families live in rural areas which may mean video options are limited or unavailable. We will problem solve and get creative! I hope you and your family are taking care and staying healthy. COVID19 UPDATE Dear families, We have been closely monitoring the social distancing and sterilization protocols from the Ministry of Health and the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario. The health of our families, staff and community is our priority. Your Speech-Language Pathologist will be contacting you directly to discuss tele and video therapy as well as options for clients whose needs are high. Our administrative staff will be working remotely but available to answer any of your questions. We will review our protocols again after April 5, 2020. Stay healthy everyone!
