Another wonderful initiative undertaken in New Zealand, lead by the fantastic Jacinda Ardern.
I have just wrapped up my final week of patient care with Ora Physiotherapy (for now). Now, it is time to turn my attention to the daunting task of organizing everything for our family move to New Zealand. I would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes. It has been both a challenging and wonderful 2.5 years and I look forward to the new opportunities that lie ahead. THANK YOU!!
World Physical Therapy Day! Yesterday was World Physical Therapy Day which is observed to generate awareness about the crucial contribution physical therapists make to society, enabling people to be mobile, well, and independent. We keep you moving!... @worldconfederationforphysicaltherapists #movementforhealth #addlifetoyears #worldptday #wekeepyoumoving
The beginning of September marks a time of change. Summer comes to an end, the days start getting shorter, the weather a little cooler, and kids go back to school. Well, there is also change happening at Ora Physiotherapy. Things will be slowing down as I prepare to begin my Ph.D. studies. Unfortunately, we will not be accepting any new patients at this time, but will continue to see current patients over the next few months. I am happy to refer to another local clinic in B...arrie with fantastic pelvic health therapists, so please reach out if you are in need of care. The '2019 Canadian Guide to Physical Activity During Pregnancy' provides evidence-based recommendations for physical activity throughout pregnancy in the promotion of maternal, fetal, and neonatal health. The first three recommendations are below...... Please contact me if you would like a copy of these clinical guidelines to review!

Incontinence is a costly problem for Canadians. Individuals spend between $1400 and $2,100 per year on incontinence products. Incontinence costs Canadian employers over 11.5 million person-days of lost work and over $2 billion in lost productivity. On a yearly basis, incontinence adds $3.8 billion to healthcare costs nationally. In total, incontinence costs Canadians nearly $8.5 billion annually.
1 million Canadians have reported suffering from incontinence, but incontinence is significantly underreported. Estimates from 2018 data indicate that the number is closer to 3.5 million Canadians. 'Common' does not equal 'normal'.... The Canadian Continence Foundation

Pelvic Floor Muscle Training (PFMT) involves exercises targeted towards creating kinaesthetic awareness and improving the strength, endurance, and coordination of pelvic floor muscles. Why is this important? Improved awareness of the pelvic floor is helpful for everyone but particularly important for those experiencing any type of pelvic floor dysfunction. Some examples include urinary or faecal incontinence (leakage), post-hysterectomy, post-partum (vaginal or C-section deli...very) or pelvic organ prolapse. Are you experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction? Do you know someone who could benefit from pelvic floor muscle training? #kegel #pelvichealth #womenhealth #postpartum #urinaryincontinence #fitness #barrie #pregnancy #hysterectomy #ora_physiotherapy #physicaltherapist #pelvicphysiotherapist #northbarrie #health #pelvichealth #pelvicfloordysfunction #incontinence #pelvicorganprolapse
