While I work on a canvas canoe, I plan to begin building a Ken Douglas row boat from the lines and plans that I developed from my existing boat. Since there is no record of his boats, I hope to create a set of plans to record the history of this boat. Even though I have the lofting numbers, this first boat will be sort of a prototype to see what needs to be adjusted in the plans before making a full copy and possibly making the plans available to the public. And the whole process will be documented in a new video series on my YouTube channel. Stay tuned.

I have begun working with a group of students on a job training program in which they will learn some woodworking skills, minor carpentry and then move on to building a few racing canoes. Stay tuned as I take some photos of the process over the coming months.

Getting so close to shipping out the Skana kayak that I have been featuring in recent YouTube videos. Just need to complete the varnishing and crate it up for its journey to Nova Scotia.

Looks like the "Haida' prototype kayak will go back on the rack for a while. Hopefully not 5 years like last time. New projects entering the shop. Varnish and paint on a Nutshell Pram and a new build. I will be starting a SkanaHV kayak for a customer which will end up a retirement gift for an employee. Hopefully some new videos as well.

Just heard that Port Townsend and Vancouver Wooden boat festivals are cancelled for 2020. How are you going get your fix of wooden boats. Well, build one of course. Check out plans and discounts during the Covid19 pandemic.
