A dental bridge also called a fixed bridge is used to restore missing teeth. The bridge is made of an artificial tooth (or teeth) and two crowns. The natural teeth on either side of the gap are shaped to accept the crowns, and then the crowns are attached. Bridges restore the appearance of a patient’s smile and help to stabilize the remaining natural teeth. Call us today to learn more.

As strange as it may seem, don’t brush immediately after eating! After you eat, the tooth’s enamel is weakened especially if you ate or drank something acidic, such as soda or citrus fruit. Brushing right away may wear down the enamel. Instead, wait at least 30 minutes before brushing to allow your mouth to naturally rebalance.

When wisdom teeth are impacted, it means they are prevented from growing in properly. This may be caused by a physical barrier, such as other teeth. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause problems such as gum disease, decay, infections, cysts, or tumours. If your wisdom teeth haven’t grown in, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are impacted. The teeth could simply be slow to develop or missing entirely. Every patient is different, so we examine the mouth and take X-rays to determine if the wisdom teeth are present and impacted. When a tooth is missing, the bone surrounding the tooth can be lost. Bone loss can change the appearance of the face to give the mouth a sunken look. Dental implants are a popular replacement for missing teeth, but they also have another benefit: they can prevent bone loss. The implant stimulates the surrounding bone, keeping it strong and healthy. For best results, the implant should be placed as soon as possible after losing a tooth. Call us to learn more.
