There are proven benefits of taking care of oneself, including better physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being. These benefits lend to fostering resilience and more effectively managing stress, which can support survivors of sexual assault through the journey towards healing. You are not alone. ORCC’s crisis line is available 24/7/365. No matter when you call, there will always be someone on the other end of the line. ... Sexual assault continues to be the most under-reported crime in Canada. Sexual Assault Awareness Month isn’t about one month. It’s about a movement to stop sexual violence. As a community, we need to show up for survivors. #ShowUpForSurvivors #SAAM2021 #stopsexualassault #Ottawa #OttawaNews #BelieveSurvivors
Here’s to the women who have committed to loving the child(ren) in their care deeply. Here’s to the women who have done that, and are no longer with us. Here’s to the women who have lost a child. Here’s to the women who are trying to have a child, and the ones who chose not to, but are helping another mama however they can. Today we celebrate you. #mothersday #motherhood #lovegivers #happymothersday
We’re pleased to share that we are in the recruitment process for a new Executive Director. We look forward to announcing the news when we have finalized that work. The journey to a newly refreshed and energized ORCC is exciting and challenging. We encourage you to participate in our community conversations so you can share your ideas on how we can redevelop our programs and services to best meet the needs of sexual assault survivors in the Ottawa area. May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit Peoples. The National Inquiry must look into and report on the systemic causes of all forms of violence against Indigenous women and girls, including sexual violence. We must examine the underlying social, economic, cultural, institutional, and historical causes that contribute to the ongoing violence and particular vulnerabilities of Indigenous women and girls in Canada. The mandate also directs us to look into and report on existing institutional policies and practices to address violence, including those that are effective in reducing violence and increasing safety. via https://www.mmiwg-ffada.ca/ (The Mandate of the National Inquiry) #MMIWG2S #endsexualviolence #ORCCsupports #IndigenousWomen
