The effect occurs even when it is assumed that facemasks are only 50% effective at capturing exhaled virus inoculum with an equal or lower efficiency on inhalation." "A key message from our analyses to aid the widespread adoption of facemasks would be: ‘my mask protects you, your mask protects me’."

The title should be: Low levels of Vit D3 linked to increased severity of Covid-19 outcome. This is a bit of a click-bait title that may jump people into incorrect assumptions that Vit D increases death from covid-19. Much of what is referenced by the "Vit D dissenters" is opinion, deflection, irrelevant to the conversation at hand, and misdirection rather than discussion and interpretation of the data in the actual peer referenced studies.... There is a well-known minimum 25(OH)D [which is Vit D3] threshold of 50nmol/l required for protection against general viral respiratory infection. Studies have shown, on average, serum 25(OH)D levels rise by ~.6-.7nmol/l for each additional microgram per day of oral intake, and that this incremental rise in 25(OH)D takes several weeks to occur. Thus small increases to already low intakes in the most at risk population (elderly, immunocompromised, sedentary) will not achieve the serum thresholds required for potential reduction of respiratory infection risk in a timely fashion. Emerging international observational data demonstrate a clear association between Vit D status and clinical outcome in Covid-19...Specifically, the odds of a MILD rather than a CRITICAL outcome were 19.61 times greater for EACH standard deviation rise in 25(OH)D levels. Risk of mortality, adjusted for age, sex, comorbidity, is 10x higher for serum levels of 25(OH)D <50nmol/l versus those with levels > 75nmols/l. By the way, though this is not as much of a problem in Canada as it is in the USA, Vit D3 is what you must supplement. Do not waste your time with Vit D2 supplements. Dr. Yancy Orchard

This is a great video that shows you what a micro-droplet suspension looks like after sneezing AND after speaking loudly. Micro-droplets each hold a high number of virus units and persist in the air of a small room for quite a long time. Opening windows to create air flow-through clears the micro-droplets much faster. There is a lot of misinformation running around, and scared people are trying to force use of this drug as a treatment without any understanding of the scienc...e. If you get lost in the details of the article below, or you don't check out the original studies with an eye able to see the details the article below discusses, you are not qualified to have an opinion on what should be done with this drug. Drug use is outside my scope of practice as a chiropractor, so I am not qualified to have an opinion on the usefulness of this drug. That doesn't bother me. It bothers me when people who have no understanding of the medical complications or the underpinning science push opinions that confuse so many untrained scared people. Fr...om the article "When we talked, I was still so confident that this response was gonna look like the 2009 [H1N1] pandemic response, which was a good response. Initially, it had some problems but once they realized what was going on, they kicked into gear and everything went pretty well. One thing that's super different is that the CDC in 2009 provided central leadership. They were proactively reaching out to state, regional, and local Health officials saying, ‘Here's what you need to be doing. Here's what this should look like.’ And people did it. I am scared and enraged because there's no central authority here. I don't understand what's going on. The CDC isn't giving press briefings. They're just absent. And that could be because the administration is muzzling them. Or it could mean that there's disarray inside the CDC. And I guess all of that will come out. . . . I just assumed that this response would look like the old response. And it doesn't at all, and I just feel so awful."
