Orchard City SDA Church 21.11.2020

Hello Sabbath School Families! For Children's Sabbath School classes this week we are looking forward to more activities with both the older and younger groups of participants! The activity for the younger group (9:30am class) will involve an "in-home" scavenger hunt as we connect with the lesson story about a lost coin. Boys and girls are invited to be ready to go and find items in their house to "show and tell" to the group (items of a specific colour or shape, etc).... The experiment for the older group (10:10am class) requires a can of carbonated water (of some sort), raisins, and a clear glass cup/jar. Sabbath School attendees from OCS should have received a can of club soda and a small box of raisins today. If your child doesn't attend OCS, or got missed in supply delivery today, please let us know and we will make arrangements to get the supplies to you (assuming you live in Kelowna!). Both sessions will also involve songs, stories, and discussions. Just a reminder, our zoom link and password are the same for both meetings, and do not change from week to week. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/474066878

Hello Families! For Sabbath School this week we are looking forward to more activities with both the older and younger groups of participants. The experiment for the older group (10:10am class) requires a beaker, two pieces of filter paper, and markers. Students who attend OCS will have a kit (beaker and papers) dropped off at their classroom to take home for the experiment. If your child attends OCS and was not in Sabbath School last week (and therefore aren't already on ou...r "kit list"), please email or message me no later than 11:00am, and I'll send a message to Mom (Cherri). She will try to put additional kits together for your child to pick up right after school dismissal. They will be available in the high school pick up zone. We will make one kit/family...if siblings want to do the activity separately, you can let us know as soon as possible, or can gather a set of supplies listed below. Unfortunately, this is also what anyone from outside of Kelowna will need to do. If you aren't at OCS tomorrow anyway, supplies you will need are a small jar or drinking glass and two coffee filters (paper towel circles should work in a pinch). Everyone needs to provide their own water-soluble markers (black, and three other colours, if possible!). The activity for the younger group (9:30am class) will involve the use of playdough, small toys, blocks, etc, as we create and act out the story of the lost sheep. Everyone's collection of things can be different! See you soon! ~Shannon

We can't wait to see you in Children's Sabbath School classes this week on Zoom! For our first class, from 9:30-10:00am, we want to invite all of our younger friends (up to about age 7-8) to join us for songs, Kindergarten and Primary lesson stories, and a storybook called No Olives Tonight. We will learn that God can help us to serve others in many different ways. We will also have some crafting time, where we can all work on drawing pictures or making a card for someone... who might be sad, lonely, worried, or sick. We can be of service! We encourage the children to have some paper and drawing/writing tools handy, if they want to participate in crafting time. Older children are also welcome, though they may find this class to be too young. For our second class, from 10:10-10:40am, we want to invite all of our older friends (from ages 7-8 to about age 12) to join us for different songs, a science devotional, an experiment, and the Primary/Junior lesson stories. If you want to do the experiment along with us, you will need two pint jars or similarly-sized bowls, a half cup of salt, water, an egg, a spoon, and small objects (LEGO, stones, paper clips, etc) that can go into the water. While younger children are also welcome, they may find that the discussions and activities are too old. The zoom link and password for both sessions is the same (and is the same as last week), however, we will close the first session before opening the second...so households with children attending both will need to log in twice. The link, songs, and printable activities are in the comments!

Hello Children's Sabbath School Friends, and Happy Sabbath! Tomorrow's zoom class will involve lesson stories, songs, and an experiment! It connects to the Primary lesson story (about running away), and is something that boys and girls will be able to do at home after they see it, if they want to do so. We'd love to have you join us at 9:30am. The password is the same as it was before...if you don't have it, let me know and I'll send it to you!... And, big news! Beginning next week (October 24th) we will be doing a trial run of having two different Sabbath School classes! From 9:30-10:00am we will run a Beginner/Kindergarten/Young Primary (essentially the same as what we've done thus far, with the lesson story, some additional slightly "younger" songs and a storybook each week), and from 10:10-10:40am we will be running a Primary/Junior class, with some "older" songs, lesson and mission stories, experiments, etc. If we were to describe the age-range focus for each group, we're aiming to have the first class be geared for children up to age 8 (ish), and the second class for children who are 8-12 (ish). We will plan to continue running this older class for as long as there are interested children wanting to attend. Older children are welcome to join the younger class, and younger children are welcome to join the older class, but we want to create a space for older primary and junior students to spend some time together, to learn and to grow. Songs, and the zoom link, are in the comments. :)

Hello Children's Sabbath School Friends! As part of tomorrow's Sabbath School class on Zoom (9:30-10:00am!), we would love it if the boys and girls could show and/or tell us about things they are thankful for. Kindergarten Lesson: "Jesus' Get-well Party" (Message: We serve God when we help sick people.)... Primary Lesson: "Who Cheated?" (Message: God helps us serve others faithfully and patiently.) The songs for this week, along with a Thanksgiving scavenger hunt for your family to complete if you'd like to do so, are in the comments!
