Last night we had the Beavers come and join our residents for some Chocolate Bar BINGO! What a fun night!

On Saturday's our residents love to start the day with some Tai Chi!

Residents had a great morning painting in our 'Easy Does It' activity room! Some of our residents may have a hard time keeping up with some of the fast paced activities, so this activity room gives them an opportunity to work their creative minds at a slower pace! Well done ladies!

Way to go Team Canada!!! Orchard Walk Retirement residents enjoyed this nail biting game! We are so proud of our team!

Did you know that Jan 25th is Robbie Burns Day? He was a poet and lyricist and one of his most famous songs is 'Auld Lang Syne'. Our residents had a great afternoon with Dai Bassett learning and listening to Scottish history and Robbie Burns' poems and songs.

Happy New Year! Our residents rang in 2020 with some entertainment from Bob and Don Duo, amazing dinner and even better friends!

We have been busy decorating Christmas cookies this week, and they taste as good as they look!

Our resident Christmas party was a huge success! A great time was had by all. Over two hundred guests enjoyed Christmas dinner with us. Thank you all for joining us!

We recently had our staff Christmas Party and boy, do our staff know how to have fun! We are so lucky to have such incredible staff here at Orchard Walk and we can't show our appreciation enough! (If only if the money was real )

Through the Angel Tree Project and with the help of both residents and staff, we were able to donate many Christmas gifts to children who may have gone without this year. It never ceases to amaze us how generous and kind-hearted our residents and staff are at Orchard Walk and Garden View Seniors Apartments.

We had such a great day on Saturday at our open house! We had a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause, wagon rides from Kody and Grace and the Dickinson Carolers sang many Christmas tunes!

Today was a great day for Giving Tuesday! With the help of our residents and staff we were able to deliver boxes full of toiletries, hygiene products, and more PLUS $275 towards the Fluevog Ottawa’s gift drive in support of The Shoebox Project!

Last night we had the Russell Warriors Minor Hockey team come and play Chocolate Bar Bingo with the residents! The residents loved it and everyone had such a fun time!! Come back anytime and good luck with your season boys!

We had a great show last night from the Greenbelt Blue Grass Band! What a fun evening!

Facebook friends: This is not one of our normal, happy posts but a family that resides in our community needs our help. Their 3 month old baby girl has been diagnosed with a rare and fast growing brain tumour. Over the next few months, Baby Tessa, will be going through intensive chemo and a stem cell transplant. Her parents will be off work and her older sister will be staying with her Auntie and Grandparents. Here at Orchard Walk, we help out those in our community whether they are young or old. As promised here is our 2019 Living List video. We strive to make every day the best day for our residents so it's truly an honour to be voted by our peers at this years Managers Conference for the best approach to turning a moment into a lifetime memory!

Each year, we're given a task - to make a residents dream come true. Not just one resident, not two but as many as we can! Then once a year, all the managers go to Toronto and show our peers how we accomplished that task. We call it the Living List. Our peers then vote on who they felt best captured the true spirit of the Living List. We, the managers of Orchard Walk, are proud to say that this year we were awarded the 2019 Signature Living List Award! We strive to make e...very day the best day for all our residents and we are honoured to be recognized by our peers! The video will follow!

We had a such a wonderful Remembrance Day Ceremony honouring our veterans.

We are lucky at Orchard Walk and Garden View Seniors Apartments to have many residents who have served (some are pictured below). Today, and everyday, we salute them and say thank you for keeping us safe and fighting for our freedom.

Today we celebrated Elaine's anniversary with Orchard Walk. Elaine has been a dedicated employee for 16 years! Thank you Elaine for all your hard work!

What an amazing day Sunday was! We were so lucky to celebrate our 20th Anniversary with so many familiar and new faces! A special thank you goes to all our lovely vendors that set up for our Harvest Market as well as J.J. Clarke for taking the time to spend time with our residents. We were also honoured to have Mayor Jim Watson, MPP Goldie Ghamari, MP Pierre Poilievre, MP Candidate Chris Rodgers and Councillor George Darouze make special appearances and presentations to long standing staff! Yesterday was Grandparents Day! Marvin the Magician came and entertained our residents and their beautiful families with some magic and his two furry assistants. What a magical day indeed!

Today, we celebrated some long standing staff here at Orchard Walk. Greta has been with us for 10 years, Joanne has been with us for 15 years and Brenda has been with us for 20 years! We thank you all so much for your dedication to our residents and your hard work all these years!

Today we had special guests from the City of Ottawa talk to us about proper hand washing techniques. Flu season is getting closer (yikes!) and it’s important to have good hygiene and not spread germs!

Yesterday, The Merry Dairy came and treated our residents and staff to some delicious homemade ice cream with some of their glorious toppings! What a wonderful treat it was on a gloomy day!

Yesterday, we had Tony the Bartender show our residents how to make some delicious cocktails: a classic Mojito, a Raspberry Mojito, and a Passion Fruit Margarita. They tasted just as yummy as they look! Cheers!

Today we practiced a Code Green - a full building evacuation! We were able to get all residents and staff out in record time. Way to go team!!

One of our favourite pups turned 9 yesterday! Rufus, from Ottawa Therapy Dogs always comes in and puts a smile on our residents faces so it was our turn to spoil him! Happy Birthday Rufus!

We had such a grape time with Julie from Fortified Grape Consulting yesterday! We got to try some different wines and pair them with delicious cheese all while learning about the process on how to get the wine from the grapes to your glass. We can't wait to do this again!
