May 17th of the day: Oberonia drepanophylla; Photo courtesy of Orchids of Kurt. "An epiphyte found in the lowland and montane forest of New Guinea (10-1600m). ...This species is quite common in this area of the highlands. The plant itself is attractive and each new growth will produce a single inflorescence which are very densely flowered and highly symmetrical. What is interesting about the Oberonia genus is that the flowers on the inflorescence will bloom starting from the tip and progress up to the base (in reverse order). The flowers also last 4-5 weeks -- amazing!" See more
