One-time payment support for Canadians living with disabilities The Government of Canada has announced a one-time payment of $600 to help persons living with disabilities, in recognition of some of the extraordinary expenses they have encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals who are determined to be eligible for the disability tax credit (DTC) or certain other disability-related benefit programs, may be entitled to receive the payment. 2020 Tax Return Filing Deadline Update: The tax-filing deadline has been moved from April 30, 2020, to June 1, 2020. In addition, all Canadians taxpayers will get a penalty-free extension until after August 31, 2020, to pay any taxes owed. Taxes owed are due on September 1, 2020. Businesses are also getting an extension until after August 31, 2020, to pay any corporate taxes owed. The new deadline to pay taxes owed is September 1, 2020.... PM Trudeau is promising a new emergency benefit for students whose education and job prospects are disrupted by COVID-19. He says a $1,250 monthly payment is coming for post-secondary students, running through August, to make up for lost work and cut hours. As well, students will soon be eligible to receive monthly payments of between $1,000 and $5,000 for volunteering in their communities to reward them for their efforts.
