This is an incredibly hard time for everyone to be in. I won't underestimate that and I won't sit here and compare whose life is harder than others. I've focused a lot of my posts lately around the loss of potential lives and high-risk groups affected by the Coronavirus. In this post I'd like to draw attention to another group of people who are extremely affected by what's going on, and that's small business owners. When I say small business owners, I'm talking about mom and... pop stores or people like myself who sell products and services in order to put food on the table or pay rent. In our case, one sale could make all the difference for us. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus has caused an extreme amount of small businesses to close up and go out of business. It's a scary reality. And for those businesses that haven't closed yet, they are barely hanging on. For those who are employeed/working as an employee, you have safety nets set up already in place. In the worst case scenario, either your employer will be paying for your time off or you will be eligible to collect EI. Unfortunately small business owners don't have any support right now, outside of creating our own safety net. But no one could have predicted this virus, which is why so many owners have lost their small businesses and only source of income. These are desperate times for a lot of us. So what I'm asking you today is to please support your local small businesses in any way possible. We all really need your help. How can you support small businesses at this time? Here are some ideas: - Buy our products and services online instead of taking your money to big businesses (who are not hurting financially in the grand scheme of things compared to small businesses) - Buy a gift card online and use it at a later date when things are back to normal - Leave a positive review on Yelp, Google or Facebook - Comment on our social media posts in support In fact, just send any of us a message or an email and ask how you can support us during this time. One of the key components of a strong economy is the flow of money. During this time, we need to keep our local area strong by supporting local businesses. Thank you to everyone who has been there for me during my small business journey. Couldn't have done it without you
