Dear Patients, Uncertain times we find ourselves in. It is our sincere hope that you and your loved ones are safe and well amidst this COVID19 global pandemic which has now arrived on our doorsteps locally and nationally. As of 6:54PM last night, our provincial regulator the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, notified all registered Doctors of Chiropractic that we are to remain available to emergency care only (which I will define in a moment) and that all elective, maint...enance, wellness and recovering injury care is to cease temporarily until the spike in incidence of COVID19 flattens out. What does this mean? There are too many people getting infected too fast and subsequently requiring emergency medical intervention and hospitalization; our system is overwhelmed. Our local and provincial governments have declared a state of emergency with the recommendation to exercise social distancing, self isolation (where necessary) improved hygiene practices (hand washing, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes) and to stay home if, when and where possible. All care providers aiding and assisting infected individuals are to use PPE which is personal protective equipment i.e antimicrobial scrubs and apparel, masks with appropriate micron filtration and gloves. Our commitment to you is to offer emergency care for acute conditions, flare ups or injuries upon request at a mutually convenient time to be arranged when we discuss. How to reach us: 1. Email to [email protected] Here is excerpt on emergency care as outlined by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario: "Care for patients experiencing a sudden and debilitating change in functional abilities (understood as walking, standing, sitting, lifting floor-to-waist or waist-to-shoulder, stair climbing, ladder climbing) or significant restrictions (experienced during bending/twisting, repetitive movement, pushing/pulling with right/left arm) as well as injury to head/neck/back and extremities. Treatment aimed at alleviating significant pain, understood as pain that is incapacitating for the patient and interferes with their ability to carry out normal functioning. Therefore, and in line with this most recent directive from the Province of Ontario, chiropractors must until further notice practise only emergency care as described above." It is our goal to safely work through this together and to overcome this virus that is ravaging people near and far. Prayerfully and hopefully we will all be here on the back side of this where we can talk about how to improve our lifestyles and personal health to perhaps make changes in anticipation of future health issues. March 20 2020 Dear Patients, CORONAVIRUS CLINIC UPDATE... We have made changes to our office policies daily in light of the declaration of the Coronavirus pandemic. As such, we have significantly reduced our office hours but will continue to care for any patients who are: a) in the process of completing a course of treatment for a condition that would risk re-injury or reoccurrence. b) experiencing acute pain symptoms for which we can offer help outside of our local emergency hospital system that could minimize exposure risk and reduce stress on our already burdened emergency health care system. c) on a current recovery program of care under WSIB (Workplace Safety & Insurance Board) d) on a current recovery program of care under SABS (Statutory Accident Benefits) for any motor vehicle accident. CORONAVIRUS ADVISORY To ensure that all necessary preventative and protective measures are taken, we ask that you not visit our clinic if you have any of the following: a) if you have been to a coronavirus infected location within the last 14 days. b) had contact with somebody with coronavirus. c) have experienced or are experiencing cough, fever, shortness of breath or any flu-like symptoms. A NOTE FROM DR. MIKE As our nation is entering into this season of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID19), we are here to safely offer the care required under the guidelines and standards of care as set out by our provincial regulator, The College of Chiropractors of Ontario. At this time, the recommended best practice of social distancing within the office, increased sanitization efforts through the use of disinfecting wipes, alcohol based hand sanitizers and liquid soap with freshly bleach-laundered hand towels has been implemented. There is also a questionnaire of recent travel, exposure risk and wether or not you are experiencing current symptoms.
