At 08:40am, the Oromocto Fire Department received a call from a gentleman who was walking in the area of the Oromocto Mall. He noticed that some ducklings had fallen into a storm drain. Crews from the Oromocto Fire Department and the Oromocto Engineering & Public Works, Water & Sewer Department responded to the scene. After doing an assessment of the air quality in the pipes, it was determined it was safe for a member to enter and remove the ducklings. A total of 11 ducks wer...e removed from the drain and have been reunited with the mother in the Oromocto River. À 8 h 40, le service d'incendie d'Oromocto a reçu un appel d'un homme qui marchait dans le secteur du centre commercial Oromocto. Il a remarqué que certains canetons étaient tombés dans un égout pluvial. Les équipes du service d'incendie d'Oromocto et le département de l'eau et des égouts des Travaux publics et ingénierie d’Oromocto son intervenues sur les lieux. Après avoir évalué la qualité de l'air dans les tuyaux, il a été déterminé qu'il était sécuritaire pour un membre d'entrer et de retirer les canetons. Un total de 11 canards ont été retirés du drain et ont été réunis avec la mère dans la rivière Oromocto.

The Oromocto Fire Department is a composite fire department composed of both career and volunteer firefighters. With this week being National Volunteer Week, we would like to say thank you to our members who volunteer their time to our community and serve within our department. Another quick reminder to be alert and aware in the kitchen! It is very important to keep a lid nearby to help in the case of a grease fire. The Sarnia Fire Rescue Services did a demonstration of why water should not be thrown on a grease fire, have a look! Like mentioned, always keep a lid close while cooking, turn off the heat and let everything cool down.
