Message from the new President of the Oromocto & Area Chamber of Commerce, Marty Forsythe. Hello Chamber Members, As the incoming President I have a couple of goals in mind for the Oromocto & Area Chamber of Commerce (OACC).... The first is to grow the Chamber and make it proactive in helping the local area and businesses. I want to establish a working partnership with the Town of Oromocto officials to reach our combined goals which will also include the establishment of regular meetings with the Town of Oromocto Chief Administration Officer. Once we get through some of the COVID-19 issues, I plan on re-establishing our monthly Business After Hours / Lunch and Learn sessions in order to share information and resources with area businesses. I hope to be very proactive with our Board and will work on initiatives geared to helping each other promote our businesses and the Town of Oromocto. Marty Forsythe (Sunlife), President, OACC

Mayor Powell is asking the community to join him on Saturday evening at 8:30 pm to recognize those working on the front lines. Families are asked to go outside... and make a lot of noise to show their support. You can show your support by clapping, playing an instrument, or even singing. LET'S GET LOUD! This will be a great chance for all in isolation to show our tremendous appreciation for those who are on the front lines still working and taking risks to keep us all safe. #INTHISTOGETHER

The Province will now provide a temporary backstop until our Federal programs kick in. We know that the Service Canada lines are jammed right now. More details ...on how the Red Cross will administer this are to follow: The provincial government will provide a one-time income benefit to either workers or self-employed people in New Brunswick who have lost their job due to the state of emergency. This one-time $900 benefit will be administered through the Red Cross and will help to bridge the time between when people lose their employment or close their business and to when they receive their federal benefit. Furthers details on how to apply will follow in coming days.
