U12 session May 6 @ 7 PM - turf field On behalf of OASA, I would like to say thank you for your patience as we move closer to the beginning of the season. For those that joined us last week in our Skills and Drills sessions, it was good to see familiar faces and lots of new faces to our Club. Moving into the coming weeks, and for those that have not yet received the brief regarding our teams and the difference between Rec and Div, I will try to give an overview of where we si...t and what we are looking for. Recreational soccer involves players coming together in a coed environment to basically have fun, while developing some soccer skills. Most games are played on the grass, with alternating travel between our home field and a field in Fredericton. The season officially starts the week of the 7th June, playing/practicing 2 days per week. Div1 is competitive soccer that combines skills, fitness and developing methods of play on the field. The teams are not coed, and are normally played on the turf. Div1 at the U12 level in the West will involve in travel between Fredericton and Oromocto. The schedule is usually 2 days per week, one practice and one game, however the schedule has not yet been released as the league is awaiting confirmation on the amount of teams. The only time the weekends will be utilized is in Aug if any of the teams make it through to Provincials. Please see the Soccer NB website for more information. Therefore, we are looking at trying to form 2 boys teams and one girl team, but we have the option to remain Rec and have 3 coed teams. The format remains the same: 9v9 with 2 x 35 mins of per half. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Angel President OASA
