Wishing all of my Basset Hound friends and families a happy, healthy Christmas! Though this year has been a difficult one for me, with the loss of Isabella at the beginning of the year; the necessary cancellation of the Oryan Basset Hound Pawtay in Brighton and Meredith's loss of puppies-to-be this month, I have still had a wonderful time getting to know all my Oryan Basset hound owners a bit better; making some new friends; finding fabulous families that are willing to wai...t for an Oryan puppy and generally being able to love my dogs and to stay healthy! The dogs are already enjoying lots of treats and Meredith especially likes stripping the ornaments off of the bottom of the tree. Christmas will be a quiet one, with just me, my brother Santa Smitty , Flavio, Saffron and Meredith. (Wait, did I say 'quiet', I forgot about Meredith! Merry Christmas everyone! Stay healthy and safe and enjoy the holidays!

This is such a difficult post for me to write. I have had Meredith at the veterinarian's today and it is devastating to have to advise that she is no longer pregnant. The vet surmises that she aborted some time after her ultrasound that confirmed puppies were present. She is doing fine and is healthy other than losing some weight. I will certainly try again with both girls and hope to have puppies next year. This year has not been the easiest one for anybody. I hope that ...those on my waiting list will either find another reputable breeder who may have a puppy some time in the future or remain on my waiting list and I will continue to update as things progress. I am so very sorry for this disappointing news and I appreciate that so many have have waited and placed your trust in Oryan Basset Hounds. wish with all my heart that I had better news! If you are looking for a well-bred puppy from a reputable breeder please do check the breeder listings on the Basset Hound Club of Canada website. Christmas without puppies will be especially hard but I know that my gang will be great company and keep me grounded.

So, trying to take pictures of all three with Santa is like trying to round up a bunch of wild buffalo! Anyhoo, the only thing that worked was TREATS! Santa's got TREATS! And then they started a riot and I had to get out the pepper spray, fire hoses and night sticks so that poor Santa did not get trampled by the crowd. SIGH!
