Today's spotlight is Roojin Habibi, PhD student at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, research fellow at the Global Strategy Lab, and international lawyer whose specialty is global health law. Roojin was recently named as a finalist for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation's 2021 doctoral scholarship competition. Roojin is dissertating on non-treaty sources of international law such as customary international law and general principles of lawattending to how human ...rights and rule of law principles apply to all countries during global public health emergencies. Our latest spotlight is on Samantha Skinner, LLM student at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University. Today's spotlight is Vincent Wong, PhD student and team lecturer at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University and doctoral fellow at the Nathanson Centre. Vincent was recently named as a finalist for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation's 2021 doctoral scholarship competition. Vincent's dissertation research: Racial Capitalism and Canada's Dreamers, situates the exclusions of undocumented youth from education in Canada within the colonial history of Canadian immigration law... and its coding, management and justification of a racial hierarchy of labour. The research explores how increasingly restrictionist immigration and education policies work to block undocumented youth from education and upward mobility in order to create a surplus pool of "informal" racialized labour that operates in parallel to "formal" temporary foreign worker programs. Congratulations, Vincent!
Huge congrats to Roojin Habibi and Vincent Wong, both PhD students at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, for being selected as finalists for the Trudeau Foundation 2021 scholarship! So proud of you! We’re crossing our fingers and toes that you’re selected.
We are having a townhall on Friday, March 12, at 3 PM EST to discuss potential plans for the return to campus. All research LLM and PhD students/candidates at Osgoode Hall Law School are welcome to attend. E-mail our chair at [email protected] for Zoom details.
