Oshawa Poker Series (OPS) 25.11.2020

Questions have been posed about how to collect your money. Here is how it is going to work... Tuesday would have been the SET. In order to play in the SET, food would have had to be donated. I have contacted the CCHC, and they are seriously low on food, and are accepting donations. Therefore, in order to collect your money, you will need to stop by Bathe Park with your food donations. If you do not show up with food donations, you will forfeit the money that is owed to yo...u. With your donation, you will have two options... 1 - You could take the money that is owed back to you right there, on the spot, in cash. Doing so will mean that your Series is over, and you give away your rights to any further money. 2 - Because we suspect a huge majority of the players will not show up, there will likely be some leftover cash that will still need to be split. Those who donate food and leave an e-mail address to have the money e-transferred will be eligible for this money. Once all finances are finalized, we will calculate what is owed to everyone, and e-transfer you your money. We understand people could be coming from out-of-town. However, the travel is the same if the game would have been played, and food donations would have been mandatory. Is it an inconvenience - absolutely - and for that, we apologize. We will be at the hall from 6pm-8pm on Tuesday evening to collect and weigh the food, and look forward to seeing you out to donate and collect.

**** SET UPDATE **** On Friday evening (March 13, 2020), the City of Oshawa, along with the OCCNA, made the decision to momentarily cease operations involving groups and gathering of individuals. This included the closing of all OCCNA facilities until further notice - which includes Bathe Park. After careful consideration, thought, deliberation and a ton of input from various members, we have come to the conclusion that it is best to cancel SET 14-1.... A number of options were put forward - asking the OCCNA for an extension to play this Tuesday, renting a different (private) hall, breaking the game into Day 1a,1b,1c, and/or postponing the SET until a later date. When we balanced each of these ideas amongst each other, we found that the best, easiest and right thing to do is to simply cancel the game. Creating a 114 player chop is actually very easy. Creating a fair 114 player chop is not. However, I do believe the formula that we came up with is as fair as we can possibly be, especially given the circumstances. We used two factors to determine the amount each player is owed - points and games played. The final distribution can be found here... https://oshawapoker.ca/Chop14-1.htm This also means that the Freeroll scheduled for March 31 will also be cancelled. Pending further complications and setbacks, the next Freeroll is tentatively scheduled for September 29, 2020. The status of our next Series, OPS 14-2, is also up in the air. Depending on when Bathe Park once again becomes available, this Series may also need to be cancelled. We will do our best to keep everyone informed. While we understand that the circumstances are totally out of our control, we feel we must still apologize to everyone involved in OPS 14-1. Every option mentioned above came with it's pros and cons. We do understand that, regardless of the option that was chosen, someone was going to disagree or feel cheated. However, given the current happenings going on around us, we felt this is the option that works best for everyone!!
