TRACKS Oshwazin will be hosting a Virtual Leather Mitt Workshop! In this two part workshop you can learn to make your very own pair of leather mitts from knowledge holder Lynda Booth. Materials for the leather mitts will be provided free of cost with your registration, and shipped to you before the workshop. This workshop is for Indigenous high school aged youth... Important! In order to finish your mitts, participants will need to attend both workshops. University of Toronto is hosting Indigenous Mentoring Day (IMD) on February 3, 2021. This virtual program is designed to match aspiring and motivated Indigenous... people, with employee mentors across the University to provide a unique opportunity in experiencing the workplace and gaining first-hand insight from willing mentors. Mentors across campus are excited to participate in this initiative. Mentees will be matched with a mentor who currently works at U of T, which will take place in the morning. The afternoon will consist of a networking session with various external Indigenous organizations across the GTA! This will give you an opportunity to spend the day with your mentor, learn more about their work and explore employment opportunities both at the University and outside of the University. The goal for this event is to facilitate an experiential learning opportunity for the Indigenous communities, and to provide a beneficial mentoring experience. It is critical to the success of the experience that matches be mutually beneficial. If you are interested in applying to be a mentee, please register by January 24, 2021 .
