Today's safety tip: Shock Loading (Impact Loading) Shock loading is one of the most common reasons we see damage during the transportation or assembly process. Even the most experienced workers can face challenges with preventing damage to their equipment, product, or even thems...elves. Shock loading occurs when a load is quickly jerked in any direction or if it is allowed to free-fall before the rigging catches it. Rapid acceleration increases the force put on the system, and if the acceleration is too severe, it can overload the capacity of the system. Double checking the lifting equipment is suitable for the task, slowing down the operation and keeping a watchful eye on the entire system can help prevent shock loading and damage to the equipment, product or persons.
