Happy Tuesday - another Happy Adoption Tail coming your way! Olivia was looking for a dog to welcome to her family. She instantly fell in love with a dog she saw on our website. Daisy has become a great companion who loves to cuddle and show affection. ... "Some say saving one dog won't change the world, but for that one dog their world will change," says Olivia. "But I say she's really changed mine. For the better. She's a little bit of sunshine everywhere she goes"

Adoption Update: Holly "Holly has been renamed to Jasmine. She had a rough start in her new home and experienced EXTREME levels of anxiety particularly at night. She is sweet and has a submissive personality but is slowly breaking out of her shell. She is improving every day. As time goes on she becomes more and more comfortable in her environment. she is getting along with other dogs in the neighbourhood, and staring to want to run and play. We could not be happier with he...r and despite some rough spots she is doing really well. She has sneaked her way onto the couch and loves to play with toys and cuddles them with her when sleeping. Thank you so much for being involved in her adoption and allowing us to include her in our family. Once she finds her confidence, she will truly enjoy her space."

Adoption Update: Lina "Thank you for letting us have Lina, she is slowly settling in. She's a good girl, precious. Very loving and affectionate. My daughter tried to teach her sit, leave it, give paw, she loves to learn. She is still a bit shy, protective and clingy with me, but I am glad to see she is friendly and greets all people with a happy wag of the tail. She is quite jealous when my 2 dogs want to share attention with me, so we are working on equal time with pats... and cuddles. All the best to you and your SPCA family. Its so wonderful to see my monthly donation goes to such a good cause for our animals in need."

Adoption Update: Alfred "Thank you! He is doing just great. Really seems to love his home and we are so pleased with him such a loving little guy. His name is now Gatsby, we changed it soon after adoption because having all of our names start with "al" was a bit confusing for him. I thought the process was great, went over very smoothly! ... We would absolutely adopt from the SPCA again! I had a kitten growing up that we adopted from the SPCA in BC and I've always loved the organization."

Adoption Update - Mouse Mouse is doing AMAZING. We're all so happy, and she and Kieran are getting along perfectly. I would absolutely adopt again - but maybe not for a few months (lol). One kitten at a time...slowly working my way towards "crazy cat lady" while my children grow up. Attached are a couple photos of Mouse (and Kieran). She sleeps on my bed with me and Kieran, and they even try to share a food and water dish.

Simon and Theodore came into our care as strays without any human interaction. They have spent time in a loving foster home becoming more social. They now enjoy human company- eating kibble and treats from hands and playing with toys from hands but are still nervous of loud noises, being picked up and pet. They are looking for a home together because they make each other more confident and they also enjoy cuddling and playing together. They are looking for a patient home that will continue their journey of trust. A home without dogs or small children will help them with this. They are available for curbside adoption at the Ontario SPCA located in Stouffville. Please email [email protected] with information about yourself to see if they'd be a good match for you!

Adoption Update - Samwise (adopted January 4, 2020): Samwise was renamed Oz and he responded to it immediately. We couldn’t get him to answer to Samwise. My son renamed him. Oz has become an integral part of our home. Thank goodness for him! He loves our older dog Bella (11) and has made several doggy playing pals in the village. He also is part of our extended dog family. My parents have a golden retriever named Murphy and my sister who lives next door to them has recentl...y adopted a rescue named Bruce. Together they are one ball of dog who play and run and seem to really love one another. Oz has become much less vocal although he and our dog Bella love to bark together at passerbys. He is still getting used to a leash and when we go for nature hikes once a day down the back of our property he gets off the leash (took a bit of training that we did slowly) and runs around and always comes back and does not stray or run away. He has become the therapy dog for our son. He won’t leave him and if he is even a bit upset, Oz gets right in his face giving him kisses until he begins to laugh. He has responded to some reward (with food) based training and has stopped barking at people when we are out on a leash walk. He has gone for one beauty treatment at the doggy spa and was apparently in heaven. He came home very proud of his shiny coat and new collar. Adopting a dog is never a bad idea as far as I’m concerned but this dog has literally saved all of us. He makes us laugh regularly and is truly loving. He also is just crazy about kids. My sister has 3 boys all under the age of 9 and he is so excited to see them. Thank you for letting us adopt him. He is just the best!

Adoption Update - Megatron We waited a few weeks for Megatron, who we have now named Guinness, to join our family. We knew he was always in great care at the OSPCA, and when the day finally came to bring him home, we couldn’t contain our excitement. The countdown had finally ended! . . ... Right away, he took to his new surroundings. Enjoying his room for the first few days and then the entire home soon after. Guinness didn’t hesitate to explore his new home, a true Leader of the Band. He is a pure JOY to have in our home. Loving, talkative and calm. He enjoys spending time with us and overlooking his kingdom from the stair landing perch. Our house is truly a home now with this lovely boy. See more

Adoption Update- Eleta: I wanted to reach out to you, as it’s been just about a month since we last corresponded, to tell you all has been going really well with Eleta and the rest of our family!! We followed your advice and all the info you provided to us, a couple of days afterwards we removed the playpen altogether and everyone had free run of the house. Mealtimes and playtime have all been good, no real fighting or dominance, and the cats love to play together. Eleta is... slowly becoming more used to our dog though she tends to run away when he’s nearby, but a couple of times they’ve snuggled up bum to bum on the couch! More recently we’ve been witness to Eleta and our other cat snuggling together. Many many thanks again for your support and advice, can’t tell you how much it’s appreciated!!

Adoption Update- Kelly: She is officially renamed as "Luna" and she is doing very well. We are still in a process of introducing her to our two older cats, Nini and Momo. She still sleeps in her designated room but now is allowed to explore more areas while we are around. Two big sisters gently play with her sometimes, and Momo seems liking her a lot.
