Osteopathy has 4 core values that we bring to the table during treatments. This first principle, believing that the entire body is interconnected, is (in my opinion) the most important principle in osteopathy. I love explaining the potential relation between X, Y & Z to my clients!

Fascia helps with posture, stability and bodily function. According to Anatomy Trains, we have 12 Fascial Lines that connect compensation patterns and pain. When an area/muscle/fascia becomes restricted or tight, the body compensates for this, thus adding additional stress elsewhere in the body. For instance, the shoulder and opposite hip are connected via Spiral Line Fascia, which begins at the front of the cranium, spirals the abdomen in to the front and back of the legs and under the foot, spiralling its way back to the base of the cranium where it meets the neck.

During sleep is when our bodies do the most! Here are some things that happen to us while we’re snoring away! Sleep helps with our physical and mental health, allowing us to perform better the next day.... The pituitary gland releases hormones which help the body to heal and repair itself. Our sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight mode) calms down and shifts to the parasympathetic (rest & digest). Proper sleep is crucial to our well-being (our Evexia!). Make sure you’re getting enough of it!

I posted this last December when our town was hit with tragedy. I am sharing again with yesterday’s tragic news I remember Megan years ago when she was in my preschool gymnastics class as the girl with the bright blonde hair and a big smile. It was amazing to see how much she’d grown as a young woman and as a gymnast when I came home after 8 years. It was a delight to watch her do her thing in the gym. This study explored the results of osteopathic manipulative treatment versus cranial osteopathy and their effectiveness with TMJ disorders. The findings showed similar positive results for both groups. Lucky for you, I integrate OMT with cranial osteopathy for greater effect on TMJ disorders!
