We're getting excited for Further Education Week, running from September 28 to October 2, during which many of our fantastic alumni will share their inspiring post-Ontario Tech experiences with #OntarioTech students. Each day of Further Education week there will be a different industry further education panel, which will consist of alumni from different fields (including counselling, medicine, law and paramedical) sharing their experience and answering questions about what it's like to work and study in their field. Ontario Tech alumnus Jeff Dornan and his brother Eric, co-founders of All or Nothing Brewhouse & Distillery right here in Oshawa, have switched gears during the COVID-19 pandemic to produce over 100,000 cans of All or Nothing Hand Sanitizer brand solution. ICYMI: We held an Alumni Speaker Series with Jaclyn Gibson last week and asked the former Ridgeback turned HR Analyst to share her top five post-graduate tips and take-a-ways: It’s ok to start in an entry-level position, find ways to add value and demonstrate your positive attitude. New grads shouldn't be discouraged by not being interviewed for high qualification jobs - it's okay to work your way up in a company. Take care of yourself by staying active (exercise, sports... etc.) maintaining good nutrition and getting adequate sleep. Network with like-minded individuals, associations, teams, and take advantage of volunteer opportunities. You never know where you will meet great contacts. Develop a mentor relationship with someone you admire and aspire to be like. It could be a professor, coach, workplace colleague, etc. Set smart goals by being specific and strategic. Pay close attention to detail on resumes and personalized applications is a must when applying for jobs. Keep an eye out for future alumni events at ontariotechu.ca/alumni

The former Ontario Tech Ridgebacks athlete shared her favourite Ontario Tech University memories which included playing in the Outdoor Winter Classic with the Women's Varsity Hockey team, along with tips for achieving peak performance in the workplace!
