Floods can happen at any time of year, almost anywhere in the Region. The potential for flood damage is high where there is development on low-lying, flood-prone lands. We watch for potential flood triggers, make flood forecasts, and issue flood messages during all seasons to help keep people and property safe from flood damages. MEDIA RELEASE - Province Tying CAs Up in Red Tape Repeal Schedule 6 What the Province is proposing to do through the changes in Schedule 6 significantly thre...atens the independent, watershed-based approach of Ontario’s conservation authorities that municipalities and others rely on to protect our natural resources and to steer development away from creating or exacerbating flooding and other natural hazards, Gavine said. This isn’t what you would expect a government to do in light of the growing and more complex climate change impacts we are experiencing. If you're visiting Harold Town Conservation Area, please note that trees have come down in the recent wind storm. There is a tree across the trail at the midway point on Funyun and another tree across the trail on the upper section of Uptown. The Face and Porcupine Pie seem to be clear. Please take care while riding and hiking the trails until we can remove the fallen trees. If you're out on the trails and see more trees down, please post under comments to let others know. Thank you!
