Today is world mental health day 2020 and it's the Thanksgiving long weekend. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we have much for which to be thankful. Let us focus on Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles' message of hope and light.

The Capital Region Interfaith Council (CRIC) held a virtual prayer service Oct. 25 where 16 different faith groups presented their thoughts, prayers and music on the theme equality, justice and peace. More than 60 participants heard the messages presented (music pieces are not included): 1. Hindu: practice restraint, generosity and mercy with everyone. 2. Jewish: God is our guardian...our protective shade. 3. Sikh: The creation is in the Creator and the Creator is in the... creation. 4. Unitarian: ...we rise from the pain; we rise from the grief...we rise to be our true selves. 5. Family federation: ...as men and women of faith, we are called to be peacemakers. 6. Jain: Light a candle in my heart so that I may love all. 7. Falun Dafa: Cultivation of "chin chin"--mind and heart. 8. Catholic Church: Serenity Prayer 9. Indigenous: blanket ceremony...find peace in our hearts 10. United Church: Truly I say to you, inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me. 11. The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints: ...that we as an interfaith community will expand our circle of love to be a light unto all with whom we come in contact in our own homes, in our neighbourhoods and in our city. A prophet speaks at the Sunday morning session of the 190 General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Capital Region Interfaith Council (CRIC) has put together an internet program for Interfaith Prayer focused on equality, justice and world peace. To whom are you an angel?

President Terry Nemeth, Stake President of the Ottawa Stake challenged members in the Ottawa-Gatineau region this morning to turn their homes into family history centres and research and prepare 1 family member name for the temple. He promised that blessings would come to those who participate. "Your homes will be strengthened. Aspects of your life will improve. Your testimonies and understanding of the gospel will deepen and strengthen."

Create places of security--home is the first line of defense, then stake and then temples. A place of security is a place where you can feel the influence of the holy ghost. Prepare your mind to be open to God. Our spiritual foundations must be solid. Book of Mormon is our Latter-day survival guide. Never stop preparing. We have so much to look forward to. At the Stake Devotiona this morning, President Yohann Couture, 2nd Counselor in the Stake Presidency shared his own 7 habits to becoming more spiritually self-reliant. 1. Remember--I am a child of God, my testimony, covenants and patriarchal blessing 2. Repentance--source of healing and peace 3. Feeling of family unity 4. Asking God the right questions--what attribute do you want me to develop ... 5. Focus more on what I do know than what I don't know. 6. Personal revelation 7.
