With this latest round of shutdowns we've been forced to reschedule a lot of our clients appointments. . One question that keeps popping up is, "When will OLC be able to resume facial services?" . The answer is not an easy one, but we'll try to give an optimistic outlook:... Currently we're in a lockdown, so services. Best case scenario we're able to re-open on time after the 28 day stay-at-home order on May 6th under the red control colour code. In the red zone, we are unable to do any mask manipulation, so full facial services are a no-no (we can still treat areas not covered by a mask though). Typically the Public Health units like to see 2 incubation periods (28 days) before increasing or decreasing the colour codes. This would mean the earliest we'd be able to move to orange would be June 3rd. The orange zone restrictions for our industry are the exact same as the red. So another 28 days before we can move into the yellow zone where facial services can resume. This puts us at July 1st. Canada Day being a holiday means the absolute earliest it looks like we'll be able to resume facial services is July 2nd. . Again, this is a best case scenario, but it is how we’re currently basing our rescheduling. So for those of you wondering why we’re having to push your facial services out so far into the summer hopefully this gives you some insight into how tied our hands are. . We want to thank all of you for your patience and your loyalty to OLC over this past year. It honestly is a huge part of what keeps us going during these downtimes. We wanted to do a post this week that helps promote another small local Ottawa business that we love. The feature for this post is one of Ottawa Laser Clinic 's favourite restaurants in the city Beckta dining & wine. The restaurant industry is currently being decimated by all of these lockdowns, so please, let's do our part so we can help them re-open. Madison is an independent illustrator/artist who recently collaborated with author Robert Olson to create the children’s book The You Inside You published by family owned Big Word Books. ... . It’s hard to pin down exactly what inspired me to create the look of The You Inside You. I researched a lot of classic fairy tales and animation including works by studio Ghibli and the stop motion production company Laika and filtered that through my own drawing style. I like to collect a lot of reference and research before beginning on a project and let it sit with me for a few days before starting on the concept art phase. I was freelancing at the time and in desperate need of work when Rob came to me asking to design a logo for his new company Big Word Books. I read the script for his upcoming children’s book The You Inside You and immediately fell in love with the story and what BWB stands for. They aim to help kids learn new big words and expand their vocabulary in a fun way that encourages a love of reading! All things that I think are very important, so I offered to illustrate the book and they agreed! - Madison . We bought a few copies for our own OLC family and we absolutely love the story and Madison’s artwork. In fact, we love it so much that we want you to have one too!
