With the recent news that regulated health professionals are able to return to work, we wanted to take a moment to update you. While we're permitted to reopen, we're ensuring that we have all systems in place and all proper equipment before we actually start taking in-person appointments again. The safety of our patients and our staff is our top priority. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to prepare the clinic, and we anticipate being ready to open soon. Some of the... changes you can expect to see are new rules in place regarding mandatory face masks, the staggering of clinic schedules to decrease the number of people in the clinic at any given time, proper in-clinic distancing, and proper practitioner PPE to be worn at all times, since distancing is not always an option during treatment. We are currently still available for TeleRehab virtual appointments, which have been shown by research as well as our post-treatment surveys to be of great value. Once we have a firm opening date for in-clinic appointments, we will be sure to update you. In the meantime, we hope you are staying well and healthy, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
We care a lot about the continuity of your rehab and health care. Just because we have to be physically isolated during this time doesn’t mean we can’t stay virtually connected! Our clinic is now offering TeleRehab virtual appointments in osteopathy, physiotherapy and kinesiology. You’ll be able to reach your health and rehab goals safely, or fix that nagging pain from a poor work-from-home setup, all from the comfort of your own home. Update: COVID-19: Clinic temporarily closed. Following new recommendations from the government of Canada, and keeping your health and safety as our top priority, Ottawa Osteopathy & Sports Therapy will temporarily close the clinic as of Tuesday March 17, 2020, until Monday April 6, 2020. Should this date change, we will advise you. We are doing our part to limit the spread of this virus, and due to the nature of our business, the close physical proximity within which we wor...k, and the volume of patients we see, it is in everyone’s best interest to respect the recommendations of the municipal, provincial, and federal health advisors. Due to this, ALL appointments between today’s date and April 6th will be cancelled. If you currently have an appointment scheduled during this period, a member of our clinic team will be reaching out to you within the next few days. Recognizing this is a very dynamic and fluid situation, we will continue to monitor recommendations from public health experts and make decisions regarding our appointments beyond mid-April. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter, and hope you stay safe and healthy during this time. From the team at Ottawa Osteopathy & Sports Therapy

Steroid injections (like cortisone) for joints can actually worsen osteoarthritis. The side effects can include accelerated and irreversible loss of cartilage. As an alternative, consider getting effective manual therapy and exercises to increase joint function and reduce pain, without the nasty side effects. Staying on top of research leads to deeper understanding and better therapy outcomes. ... https://www.cbc.ca//osteoarthritis-corticosteroid-injectio
