Hockey (and other sports) on boarded ODR’s is back!! (On Tuesday)

Lots of great ice in the city today. Remember, skating only. Masks required near the surface, recommended on the ice. Capacity limits of 25 persons on rinks, 12 on puddles. #staysafe #stayactive #ottawaodr https://www.OttawaRinks.ca

Further to my previous post, it seems puddles (unboarded rinks) are being asked to restrict to max 12 on the ice at any given time. Look for signage at your rink to see if this restriction applies where you are skating.

It’s a bit of a weird season this year, but remember, every single rink has hard working volunteers that make and maintain the ice. If you see your operator(s), be sure to thank them for their hard work!

City of Ottawa // Ottawa Public Health can I get some guidance re: hockey on community ODRs? Several users of my website have mentioned the press release on the 22nd stated no team sports / practice (hockey/ringette/etc). But recent mask guidance doesn’t mention that at all. Additionally the Outdoor rinks page on the city website only lists no hockey on refrigerated surfaces, and states that it is permitted on the border rinks. (The standard messaging in non-pandemic times....) The Provincial note states: Team sports, or other sports or games where people may come within two metres of each other, are not practiced or played within the amenity (outdoor ice rinks in this case). Help!

Friends. Stay COVID Wise when using the rinks during the provincial shutdown: Outdoor community and refrigerated skating rinks will remain open for skating only, weather permitting. Change huts will be closed. No hockey or other team sports are permitted on the ice and skaters must maintain a two-metre distance from people outside their household. https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca//publi/be-covidwise.aspx
