Currently Accepting Volunteers: Pinhey Sand Dune Restoration Assistant Help the reclamation of Ottawa’s Pinhey Sand Dunes! The Pinhey Sand Dune is a unique ecos...ystem located in Nepean, Ontario. Our organization works to preserve this ten thousand year old landscape and protect the plants and animals that depend on it for their survival. Our team is looking for energetic and hard working people who love nature. The work is manual, sometimes hot and gritty, but inevitably, a team spirit quickly develops. Our volunteers work hard to weed unwanted species out of the dune, plant and care for native species and clean unwanted debris out of the sand using sifters. The sand dunes benefit from our dedicated supporters, and from what they tell us, our volunteers get a lot out of the experience as well. As a volunteer you will learn about natural history and entomology while working side-by-side with scientists and naturalistsa great opportunity for a hands on experience. We also can’t help but notice: those who come out to the dunes begin to develop a deeper appreciation for the importance of biodiversity.
