The reason we decided to homeschool: I am not afraid of the virus, but I am greatly afraid of the response we have made towards it and the effects on our children. When I was little my parents always said I want a better childhood for you then I had...today I am saying I wish for you to have the childhood I did. Isn’t that sad? Out on the playground there are kids laughing, playing tag and having fun...all except one boy who arrived with a mask on..he is huffing and puffi...ng trying to keep up with the group, red faced and sweaty...I don’t worry about my girls getting sick at this moment, I worry about the poor boy, if he is getting enough oxygen, breathing enough fresh air since the only time he will take it off is at home....this is not the world I wish for them, this is why we homeschool for now...so that my little ones can be mask free and stress free of our fears, our ever changing rules. What does homeschooling a little one look like? To be honest ..different everyday. I know how lucky I am to be able to stay home and teach my girls..not everyone has this luxury. So I take what I teach them seriously, it’s my chance to personally invest in the bank of their lives. I am not a teacher, but I believe as parents we all are just by being a parent. We can teach our kids how to learn, how to socialize , values, respect, to love learning, to love books..knowled...ge is power and that knowledge comes from a thirst of wanting to know more...it is important what we don’t teach just as much as what we do...if you do not show your children that something is important/of value to you how can you expect them to understand what is important? For me it’s books, education, good healthy food, family, history and being a good person in this world...this things can be nature..:but oh how powerful it is when we nurture these things too. Our days do not include screen time, but include real time. And that means anyone at any income level can teach their kids, anytime, anywhere...even if our kids are older and go to regular schools , we as parents have such a vital role in shaping what they know and value. So have that chat with them about their day, teach them something your mom/dad taught you, cook with them, read with them , and most importantly play with them...when you do your are teaching them that they are valued and have a role in your family, that there is more...... #homeschooling #kidslearning #education #parents #knowledgeispower #knowledge #teachthemyoun #teach #lifelessons #charlettemason
