The skeleton of a new project is under construction, complete with dog kisses and all! We had initially planned to have this project installed for the summer but, well, you know how this year went. #2020 This will be our biggest (and most complicated - check out all those angle cuts) installation to date and we are so excited to be bringing it to #downtownsquamish for early 2021! #placesforpeople #placemaking #publicspaces #weloveourcommunity #sustainablecities #seatosky #squamishlife #oursquamish

Just finished reading Squamish The Shining Valley by Kevin McLane, which takes you on a journey back in time through the rise and fall of ice, rock, and sea levels that have shaped the beautiful place we know today. A few fun facts: Howe Sound extended far up the Squamish Valley, and by about 3000 years ago river sediment had filled it to the Cheekeye River, meaning current day location of @fergiescafesquamish was once oceanfront! Sediment deposits have continued to mov...e the shoreline South to where it is today. Villages including Stawamus at the foot of the Stawamus Chief weren't formed until roughly 5000 years ago because of the rising and falling sea levels. Before this, Indigenous peoples living here were semi-nomadic, moving about in a constantly changing environment. Garibaldi Estates used to be a potato farm. Settlers named Brackendale after both the Bracken Fern, which grew abundantly in the valley, and a Mr. John Bracken who owned the Bracken Arms Hotel in the early 1900s. #squamish #howesound @the.shining.valley
