According to Public Health officials, if you plan on going to your cottage this winter, you need to plan ahead for the following: - purchasing all supplies and groceries ahead of time and plan to be self-sufficient for your stay. Avoid any unscheduled trips into town during your self-isolation. Have a plan for how you will replenish supplies, if staying longer. - avoid stops on the way and go directly to the cottage. Fuel-up and bring snacks so that you can make your trip w...ithout any stops. - make sure to have hand sanitizer and face coverings with you in the event of an unplanned stop. - when you arrive, plan to isolate (no visits, no trips into town). Don’t invite guests stay only with your household group. Cancel your annual events this is not a time to host a family Christmas or winter getaway. - self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 at least daily - once your 14 days are over, use curbside pickup to get supplies whenever possible and practice all other public health measures including physical distancing, wearing a mask, following social gathering limits, washing your hands and staying home if you are ill. https://globalnews.ca//coronavirus-cottage-ontario-shutd/

Public Service Announcement: An urgent reminder to folks that all ice is NOT created equal. Current flows and MANY other factors impact the quality of the ice below your feet when you are out ice-fishing. You have to be aware of this reality before you venture out - just because another angler on social media said the ice is 10 inches thick on Lake "X" does NOT mean that it is the same thickness on the whole lake, nor on surrounding lakes, and especially not on rivers. If ...you are in doubt, reach out to someone who may have more knowledge on these matters. Your life is not worth losing due to lack of understanding of the ice on any given lake. Please be as safe as possible... your family and friends will thank you for it! https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/two-men-rescued-from-mississippi-

Behind closed doors, clueless Ottawa bureaucrats are searching for new ways to take money out of your pocket. The Boating industry needs to stand up to this, and recreational boaters need to be aware what is happening behind the scenes.... https://www.cbc.ca//transport-canada-floats-new-user-fee-p

Thank Goodness we manage our fisheries better nowadays... but still, we hear too many stories about people harvesting big fish that should be left to swim another day, and breed future generations of BIG ONES!!! Let it go, Let it grow...

The "full corn moon" that arrives tomorrow is having an amazing impact on the fishing with Liam and I catching/raising 9 muskies in 4 1/2 hours. The "harvest mo...on", on the other hand, arrives on Oct. 1st, being the closest full moon to the equinox. And get this, I make a figure 8 after every cast, and when I did one the other day and saw nothing, I started pulling the lure up to make my next cast. When my lure was a foot or two out of the water and moving into the back cast, a muskie cleared the surface and ate it. I am not sure who was shocked more - the fish or me. I mean, I was standing in the bow of the boat with a muskie going berserk, dangling off the end of my line. Before I could hit the free spool button and drop my rod tip, the fish shook off. That is only the second time in over 60 years of chasing big toothy critters that I have had that happen Outdoor Canada & Outdoor Canada West Keep Canada Fishing KingFisher Boats Go Fish In Ontario Humminbird Minnkota Keep Canada Fishing AnglingBuzz See more
As temps start to cool, it's as prime time to start using "underspin" jig heads to catch more bass, especially with Smallmouth starting to school up in advance of Fall. https://www.wired2fish.com//when-to-fish-paddle-tail-swim/

The beast that attacked this lady still swims! A good reason to get out in Northern Ontario and catch one of the fiercest freshwater species we have in our waters... https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/video
Unfortunately, this situation will require strong leadership from municipal and provincial stakeholders in order to address the root of the issue. Simple education is urgently required to ensure that those enjoying our great outdoors are doing so with respect and civility to the communities they are visiting. We must not continue to lose public fishing areas due to the actions of a few bad actors - for the sake of all others who enjoy the outdoors responsibly. https://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com//douro-dummer-town
