Thank you to the Fire Department for volunteering their time to help get the CO-OP Community Outdoor Rink ready! We have a few more floods to do to build up the edges so until then please avoid skating near the boards. Other than that it is ready for your enjoyment! We are planning a Grand Opening Night Skate with the CO-OP so stay tuned for more details!

Hey Outlook! Taking part in recreational activities, especially outdoors, can significantly improve physical and mental health. If you are looking for ways to stay active this winter with your family check out some of the ideas below:... 1. Snowball fight. How to play: every person for themselves, build up a snow wall to take cover behind and stock up on snow balls. Last person standing wins! 2. DIY Duct tape sleds - How to build: grab an old cardboard box and cut it into the shape of sled you want and then cover it in duct tape! Find a snow hill and enjoy! 3. Build a snowman! 4. Spray paint snow - How to play: mix food colouring and water into a spray bottle and enjoy! 5. Make a snow maze - How to play: create foot trails and outline it with snowballs... or that snow paint you created ! REMEMBER! You can only get to the other side through one specific trail! 6. Build an Igloo - grab an old pail and pack it with snow. One you have a full packed bucket of snow, start stacking! Remember to use bigger blocks at the bottom and smaller blocks towards the top! 7. Create a game of tic tac toe in the snow! You can use snowballs, snow spray paint, or if you really wanted a challenge try creating the X’s and O’s by shaping them with snow and misting water over top of them (spray bottle would work great) and letting them freeze in between each spray until they are solid! Spray paint them when you are done if you want! 8. Sled pulling contest - you could turn this into a full on relay race where the teams have to go through a series of obstacles before reaching the finish line. 9. Create a scavenger hunt of things you would normally find on a walk around the community to make your walk more exciting for the kids! 10. Enjoy a cozy campfire with your family at the end of busy outdoor activity filled day. We would love to hear how you and your family stay active during the winter, leave us a comment below with your activity ideas!
