Daytime Shelter Workers 11 hours shifts Overnight Shelter Workers 10 and 11 hours shifts The OOTC staff persons support the guests of the emergency shelter and transition housing. Duties include but are not limited to: intake, safety and security protocols, laundry and cleaning, food bank operations, serving meals, and some cooking.... Casual Part Time Workers The Casual Part Time Workers support the shelter guests and staff on an on call, as needed basis. Some permanent part time evening shifts available. Just so people in this community are clear. The shelter space at the old QE high school is open 24/7 for any person who need EMERGENCY accommodation. In order to insure the safest possible space during COVID, all person need to be approved at entry. Those who have been regularly accessing service are pre-approved "the list". The approval process for new people takes about 2 minutes. People who are behaving in a manner that is unacceptable, will be asked to leave. Even this ...does not mean that the person can't come back the next day. We have room for 28 people. We have never had that many people seeking shelter at the same time. So we are never full in our current space. Thanks to the Keewatin Patricia School Board we have capacity to shelter everyone with proper distancing and COVID precautions.
