NEW COFFEE ALERT She's back!! Our favourite little bean. FLAVOUR NOTES: Cacao Nibs / Berries / Rum COUNTRY: Brazil REGION: Cerrado Mineiro... FARM: Fazenda Cachoeira, Danilo Barbosa VARIETY: Yellow Catuaì ALTITUDE: 1250 Masl PROCESS: Natural Fermented ROAST: Light Medium Recommended Brewing Methods Filter / Chemex / Pour Over / Espresso / Aeropress ABOUT THE COFFEE The Anahi Peaberry we all loved is back again this year! This naturally fermented coffee comes to us from the Anahi lot of the Cachoeira Farm by way of Danilo Barbosa of DBarbosa Coffee. The family-run business is in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, within the Cerrado, a vast region of tropical savannah increasingly known for its coffee production. Peaberry coffee is a naturally occurring mutation present in coffee varieties where only one bean is present inside of the coffee cherry instead of two (approx 5-10% will be peaberry). Farmers will then sift out the peaberry coffee beans and package them separately. ABOUT THE FARM Danilo Barbosa is the fourth generation of a coffee family who started farming in 1930. Now, he works with the fifth: his sons Vítor Marcelo and Sérgio Ricardo. Cerrado Mineiro is a large region in the state of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil. According to The Cerrado Coffee Growers Federation, it is made up of 55 counties, 210,000 hectares of coffee farms, and 4,5000 producers. It has an average production of 5 million bags every year a quarter of Minas Gerais’ output, and 12.7% of Brazil’s. It is also the first region in Brazil to receive protected Designation of Origin status, meaning coffee labelled Cerrado has to actually come from Cerrado (similar to the rules protecting Spanish ham or Champagne).

Outpost is giving new life to a overlooked coffee byproduct: used espresso grounds. We have noticed how much coffee grounds we are composting daily and wanted to find a way to recycle the grounds. So we created a coffee scrub using our leftover espresso grounds. The finer grind size makes this scrub special as it won't scratch your skin, it's so fine just like you will be! Caffeine has been found to stimulate blood flow while targeting cellulite, stretch marks, eczema, acn...e and helps to tighten pores. The ingredients are simple and natural: espresso grounds, salt, oils and essential oils. Nothing else needed. We have two different scents: Orange - Ginger, Peppermint - Citrus. Handmade in Toronto by Outpost Coffee Roasters. Barista Tested. https://outpostcoffee.com//curated-p/products/coffee-scrub

NEW COFFEE!!!! This farm located in Apaneca, Ahuachapán. The Apaneca-Ilamatepec Mountain Range is considered The Gold Belt of Coffee from El Salvador. On this farm they grow orange and red Bourbon coffee varieties which are known for their floral notes and citrus acidity. Finca Noruega covers 27 hectares at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters above sea level. This is quite high for Apaneca. Moreover, the coffee grows under a thick cover of shade trees. This makes the cr...op mature much more slowly than some of the other farms: this means the coffee really only comes into full production towards what is thought to be the end of the season in El Salvador. Los Naranjos Café is a family business of three wise former high school friends that turns into as a company a few years ago. For them coffee is the best way to protect the environment and the future of the planet, also they decided to invest in this industry to be an example to tackle the lack of investment in agriculture, they considered this is the only way out to help the most vulnerable people of the rural areas, where it's easy to find extreme poverty, child malnutrition, and emigration problems. ORIGIN: El Salvador FARM: Noruega - Las Naranjos VARIETY: Red Bourbon ALTITUDE: 1400 - 1750 m PROCESS: Honey ROAST: Light - Medium TASTING NOTES: Passion fruit, cherries, hibiscus, sweet tea.

Here is the development that is currently proposed for 1540 Bloor St W, the old Giraffe building (corner of Bloor and Dundas W). I personally have mixed feelings. If you want to support/object this development, you only have until 11Feb 2021 to submit your letter to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT). Go to HTTPS://westbend.ca/1540-bloor/ for info and fill out the form to have your voice heard.

The new provincial orders do not alter our service. While we understand and support that foot traffic will be quieter, we will still be open for you, with room for 2 masked people inside at a time. You can also purchase roasted coffee and equipment on our website for curbside pickup or delivery. Open 8 to 5 daily.

This coming Monday as rules tighten up in Toronto, we will continue operating safely as we have for the past months. We will continue to limit 3 customers in the store. At Outpost, our staff will adhere to and enforce strict sanitization rules, distancing rules, and mask use rules as per public health guidelines. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer a public washroom. For our home brewers, Outpost will continue to sell and deliver roasted coffee to your door, link in bio or visit https://outpostcoffee.com/ for online orders. Feel free to reach out if you have any concerns and we look forward to safely welcoming you to our cafe. Thank you for your support.

We are so excited to announce our NEW on-going initiative "Coffee for Change" 50% of the sales from each bag goes towards a cause close to our heart, this round being The 519 in support of the TPOC (Trans People of Colour) community. We have often expressed our mission: elevating quality of life through the daily ritual of coffee and through "Coffee for Change" we hope to continue that mission through this new initiative. Our hope is to create daily change in the community... the only way we know how: a cup a coffee at a time. We'd like to say a special thank you to Jenelle Lewis, a talented illustrator and a queer woman of colour who designed our labels. Thank you again Jenelle for this beautiful design ! About The 519: "Our TPOC project is designed to provide access to training, skills development and employment opportunities for TPOC to take up community leadership, provide access to affirming sexual health promotion information and services and ultimately to develop a cookbook that highlights the leadership of TPOC, has important sexual health promotion tips and centres recipes that focus on healthy eating on a budget."

Next week, we'll be announcing an on-going initiative from Outpost Coffee Roasters as our commitment to action in fighting anti-Black racism. We'd like to formally say that Black Lives Matter. This month is also Pride, a celebration of a multitude of queer identities and commemorates a turning point in LGBTQIA+ history. These movements go hand in hand because of the work of Queer and Black activists, like Marsha P Johnson, Sylvia Rivera and Storme DeLaverie, who were at the frontlines of the Stonewall Riots. Without Black folks passionately fighting for equality, we wouldn't have the rights we have today.
