A good solid freeze helps reduce bugs and other things that attack our lawns, trees and shrubs. It also provides a deep soak come spring thaw. Things to remember, aerate your lawn as soon as possible, over seed and add a layer of top soil. Don't roll your lawn until your new seed is established. Rolling your lawn in the spring is... equal to rolling your garden beds. You crush and destroy the new growth! The most asked question I get in the spring is when to trim shrubs and plants? A general rule of thumb is, if it blooms in spring don't do a thing, if it blooms in fall do it all. Exceptions to this rule would be roses or plants with winter burn. Otherwise you will get shingles on wood, large leaks throughout your home, window sill and frame damage, wall and ceiling damage with no recourse and a hefty repair bill.

Deck maintenance, water sealing your decks and fences will make them last and protect them from oxidation and rot. Power wash the wood and then clean using deck cleaner, follow directions, use a corn broom or cement broom to loosen dirt, rinse and seal. Check the label on sealers some are yearly others last up to 5 yrs, your choice.
