The summer heat has arrived! Be careful with those bulldogs!

Up doing a night feeding, thinking about a whirlwind of a week that we have had. Unfortunately we have gone from extremely happy and hopeful to extremely sad and worried. We unexpectedly lost a puppy today and it has put us in high alert and on edge. I share so people following our journey can see the good and the bad of this labour of love that we do! On top of our sleep deprivation we noticed that 3 families on our waiting list have purchased from one of the rare coloured ...breeders, with not even a mention of it to us even though we spent time chatting with them and hoping to get to know them better in the future. Some people have no patience and jump at the first opportunity so we understand that, just another thing bothering us which brings us to those incredible families that check up and genuinely care and want to build that strong bond with us, so we thank you immensely for that. In times like this, you are the reason we put our heads down and move on. To know we our nurturing the rest to join loving families!! We do our very best to answer every email, Facebook message, phone call and text. We expect open communication with our families so we try our best to lead by example. Our families know we are only ever a phone call away. Thank you to our incredible vets and staff at Central Vet Services, I don’t know what we would do without you. And to our co-breeders Ronni and Colin Harris, your love and friendship is irreplaceable. Please ... members of this group ... we have been getting a lot of messages and post requests for people wanting to find non-standard color and/or Merle bulld...ogs. We will not approve those posts. We are a group that protects, preserves and promotes the Bulldog by using standard that was written in the late 1800’s. Merle bulldogs are not purebred. Merle was brought in from another breed. It never existed in bulldogs. When breeders start playing with dilute genes and then add the Merle gene from another breed into the mix, the resulting puppies have a much higher incidence of a multitude of lifelong and very expensive problems. Please do your research and don’t put yourself into a situation that could cost you both financially and emotionally. We know people are frustrated with having to wait for a puppy from reputable breeders right now but trust me, the wait is worth it You can check out the Bulldog Club of Canada for information on the Bulldog breed standard. You can also check out Road Dogs and Rescue via their website or Instagram to see the problems that can occur when breeding for non standard colours and Merle.

With the Christmas season around the corner, please do not buy or allow your dogs to have raw hide! They are no good for any dog!

Over The Tops Sammy June 22nd 2010 - November 4th 2020 In the early hours, Sam took a turn for the worse, and his loving family said their goodbyes. He was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago and was not given much time. Sam had a zest for life and he loved his retirement family. They took such great care of him. His golden years he was able to spend with his litter sister. They made many great memories with him in the short time they were together. Sam was given back to ...us just before his 9th birthday. We planned to keep him for his senior years and give him a nice life. One of our families that had his sister and brother had just lost his brother to cancer. They were devastated and in mourning. We have always kept in touch and I told her about Sam. We just knew at that moment that Sam had a purpose, he was going to mend this families broken hearts! And that he did. With his love and trust, he very quickly became their boy! He loved his human kids too. The last picture is little Benny saying goodbye to his best friend. Sam, you were an amazing boy with a heart of gold. I was fortunate enough to be a part of your entire 10.5 years of life. For that I am thankful. I am thankful for the love and care you received in your golden years. I can’t even explain my gratitude. Some days my dogs make me smile, and some days they make me cry. Today is a crying day, for the most gentle soul I have ever known! Rest easy Sammy boy! See more
