Coming in at #5 in 2020 is this special post! Anger is a distress signal. Anger in the postpartum period is a red flag that is being overlooked and misund...erstood. Studies have shown that moms struggling with PPA/PPA are more likely to have symptoms of rage. This rage is often intense, hard to control and feels very uncharacteristic. If you are struggling with Rage, check out my workshop hosted with@psychedmommy In this workshop, we address how to manage your anger response towards your child (or partner's) triggering behaviour. Topics addressed: ~ Understanding Postpartum/Mom rage ~ Learning to Identify the Needs Underneath the Anger ~ Practical Strategies for in the Heat of the Moment ~ Ways to Repair When you've Lost Your Cool ~ Ways to Practice Self Compassion ~ So much more Link in bio or happyasamother.co/mommyrage for more information

Many of our littles have returned to school or preschool in the last few weeks and this helpful guide from Carizon might be a good resource if your child is struggling with anxiety associated with this transition. I know my little one had some separation anxiety while returning to preschool after being off since March. To support her with this I sat with her and heard her emotions, and then taught her a new coping strategy. She now sings twinkle twinkle little star when she’s feeling worried and it’s helped a ton! Two days in a row with no tears . How have you helped your little ones reduce anxiety in their transition to school?

Why do we have Black Breastfeeding Week? Here’s why: Black Breastfeeding Week was created because of the long-standing racial disparities seen in breastfeeding ...rates. CDC data shows that 75% of white women versus 58.9% of black women have ever breastfed. The BBW website states, The fact that racial disparity in initiation and even bigger one for duration has lingered for so long is reason enough to take 7 days to focus on the issue. Visit our website for a breakdown of the top 5 reasons why we need BBW: https://buff.ly/31oQq0F This week, we will be sharing our support for #BBW20 on all our social media channels! There are so many cultural expectations put on motherhood but one of the worst has to be that you MUST sacrifice all things self to be a good mother. This is a theme that comes up too often in my work with perinatal people. Here’s your reminder that sacrifice is not a prerequisite to motherhood. You can be a good mother and still: work out of the home, have hobbies, have a social life, move your body, take time for yourself, have sex, sleep, eat the good fruit, go on date ni...ght, buy yourself new things, make the dinner you feel like eating, choose the music in the car... Yes, when your children are born their life begins and ends with you, but it doesn’t have to work the other way around if you don’t want it to. What’s more: if you do sacrifice all things you, what message is that teaching your children (or partner or friend or boss)? It is important to me and my partner that our kids are raised knowing their value, and the value of meeting their own needs. I want them to remember how I not only took care of them but took care of myself. Most importantly, I want them to know that they should never light themselves on fire to keep others warm. Your worth as a parent-and as a person-is not defined by what you give up for success in your role. #youaregoodenough #lessonsfromsessions #postpartummentalhealth #keepyourselfwarm #youvegotthis #icanhelp

Children are often called to shrink themselves for the adults in their lives. Today I want to remind you that you are worthy.
