"N.D.P. Member of Provincial Parliament and Official Opposition Education Critic Marit Stiles, as well as 76 Parent Committee Chairs from public school boards across Ontario, are calling on Premier Ford’s government to halt plans for permanent online learning." https://www.680news.com//ndp-mpp-calls-for-halting-pl/amp/
Let’s learn from what went wrong, and what went right. Let’s give people justice and accountability. And let’s make sure that we never, ever again have a government that makes a public health emergency even worse: https://www.ontariondp.ca/full-inquiry
Members of Canada-Palestinian Parliamentary Friendship Group (24 MPs, 2 Senators) call on Canada to condemn Israel’s actions and apply the same tools (I.e. sanctions) that have been used against Russian and Chinese officials.
In the early 1930s, a young David Lewis was asked, as part of his application for a scholarship at Oxford: What would be your first step if you were elected PM? by the president of CP Rail. Lewis replied: "I would nationalize your company." https://jacobinmag.com//canada-nationalize-transit-system-
After signing a letter asking Canadian newsrooms to do better coverage of Israeli attacks on Gaza, reporters were reprimanded by management, and at least one person was told they couldn't cover the region https://theintercept.com//israel-palestine-canadian-journ/

The NDP tabled Private Member’s Bill C-213, An Act to Enact the Canada Pharmacare Act, in February. Bill C-213 is groundbreaking new federal legislation, modell...ed off the Canada Health Act, to establish a universal, single-payer, comprehensive and public pharmacare plan that will deliver better healthcare and improve the health and lives of millions of Canadians. Canada is falling behind, being the only high-income country that has a universal healthcare system, but does not include universal coverage of prescription drugs. The lack of coverage results in 1 in 5 Canadians being unable to afford the medication their doctors prescribe. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us all the gaps in our healthcare system. Millions of Canadians have lost their jobs and are struggling to make ends meet. In a recent survey conducted by the Angus Reid Institute, nearly 9 in 10 Canadians support a national pharmacare plan like Bill C-213. It is clear, Canada’s healthcare system is falling behind. We need universal pharmacare to ensure that all Canadians are able to access the medication they need. We are reaching a crucial period for Bill C-213. The second hour of debate and first parliamentary vote will take place this upcoming February. Bill C-213 could be the law of the land by next spring. That is why we are calling on you to sign our e-petition and contact your Member of Parliament to show your support for Bill C-213. Take action to support Bill C-213 and visit www.pharmacarec213.ca
Covid-19 cases are rising. Communities are worried, like Nunavut, a community where chronic underfunding has put people at risk. Help is needed, now.... So, with talk of vaccine rollouts taking place in the US as soon as next week, what's our plan? Why has Justin Trudeau left Canadians in the dark?
1 in 5 Canadians aren't taking their medication because they can’t afford to pay for it. The Liberals have been promising pharmacare for 23 years. Join Jagmeet Singh in calling on Justin Trudeau to deliver universal pharmacare to Canadians now.... TAKE ACTION: Medicine for all. Tell Justin Trudeau and the Liberals that every Canadian should have access to the medicines they need. https://www.ndp.ca/pharmacare-act
BREAKING: Ontario's Auditor General has concluded that Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health "did not lead" the province's COVID-19 response, and Public Health Ontario played a "diminished" role. https://t.co/7wk0LXey9G #onpoli
This government’s choices have hurt people, and attacking the auditor doesn’t change that, NDP Ethics and Accountability critic Taras Natyshak. https://t.co/8yK8Xqi4DI

Conduct included demeaning, belittling and humiliating staff members as well as kissing, touching and intimidation that created what the Senate ethics investigator described as a "poisoned work environment." Almost $500,000 in compensation to nine former staff. https://t.co/IZAMJI2unC
Agriculture can be part of the solution to the Climate Crisis FROM BIOFUELS TO SOLAR: FARMING WITH RENEWABLE ENERGY Canadian dairy farmers are uniquely positioned to take advantage of renewable energy, with ready access to manure and crops that can be turned into biofuels, plus the ability to harness power from the sun and wind.... https://dairyfarmersofcanada.ca//sustaina/renewable-energy
I first raised the alarm about the Liberal govs failure to adequately negotiate contracts of #COVIDvaccines back at our Nov. 16th #OGGO study on #COVID preparedness We were assured we'd be in line to receive the vaccines 1st quarter in 2021, turns out that's not exactly true.
On CityNews talking about reduced testing with more positive cases.
Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. As a survivor of sexualized violence, I am passionate about ending violence agains...t women. And it's important to note that Indigenous women, racialized women, women living with disabilities, and women in the SOGIE (LGBTQIA2S+) community face disproportionate levels of violence along with additional barriers when seeking support. It's also important right now to talk about how during COVID-19 all types of violence against women and girls, but particularly domestic violence, has intensified. Many are calling this the Shadow Pandemic amidst the COVID-19 crisis and we need a collective effort to stop it. More needs to be done to prioritize addressing violence against women, including funding organizations doing important work in this area, and ensuring that women are supported in our COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.
