Completed work available by Danielle Gardner Through the years at OSA 30 x 48 Filled with nostalgia, hope some of you can recall some fun times camping w...hile looking at this new finished piece. Have any of you been to the lovely blue waters of OSA Lake in Killarney Provincial Park? I love that both of my children are growing up with this painting and all of our camping memories. The first time I painted on this canvas was in 2010 and my oldest was 3 years of age and now, my 5 year old has fond memories of trips and day-trips here. We picnicked on this island with our dogs. From Wikipedia: The origin of the park is owed to the conservation efforts of artists. Canadian Group of Seven artist A. Y. Jackson was so alarmed by the prospect that Trout Lake (now O.S.A. Lake) was about to be logged that he petitioned the Provincial government of the day to have it preserved. His letter was received by William Finlayson, then the Minister of Lands and Forests, resulting in a successful conclusion. The lake was taken into trust by the Ontario Society of Artists and its name was changed to O.S.A. Lake. Jackson's efforts were rewarded with the naming of a lake after him on his 90th birthday. The hills and lakes in the Killarney area became a popular place for painting and csketching and over the years several other members of the Group of Seven worked there including Franklin Carmichael, Arthur Lismer and A. J. Casson. In 1959 the Killarney Park area was set aside as a wilderness preserve. In 1962 Highway 637 opened, connecting the north shore of Georgian Bay all the way from the town of Killarney to the Trans-Canada Highway. Finally in 1964, with the help of lobbying efforts by the Group of Seven, 4,000 square miles (10,000 km2) of Georgian Bay shoreline were set aside as a wilderness reserve, and Killarney became a provincial park. Completed work Ritual by Danielle Gardner 36 x 36. Please share SOLD. We share rituals each day, solitary ones and ones with our families.... Like many, I have used the ritual of walking / searching / looking / swimming and experiencing the landscape. These gentle spaces offer us solace and sanctuary. We are drawn to these escapes and seek them out to heal us. First, the rugged terrain breaks us down and then it’s minerals in the water work to rebuild us. I journeyed to Topaz Lake with my close friend Bridget, and we swam the most rewarding swim, knowing we would have to make the journey back. It is always rewarding to achieve my goals in nature; to spite my difficulties with asthma and allergy to trees! I’ve practiced being mindful of my surroundings and my own breath. We have been building our own rituals to get through this uncertain time. This is the first in a series of Topaz Lake that I will be working on. Nature has been my constant companion here Allowing me to focus on the beauty of the ever changing environment and challenge myself to forge through it. #selfisolaiton #philosopherswalk_art @friendsofkillarneypark @killarneymountain @killarneyoutfitters @killarneypp @killarney200 #ontarioparks #findyourselfhere #ontarioforu #keepexploring #hikeontario #shareyourparadise #forgeyourownpath #discoveron #explorersedge #yourstodiscover #explorecanada #takemoreadventures #shoplocal #killarneylandscape #killarneyontario #ritual #artforsalebyartist #paintingismytherapy #windowtothesoul #topazlake

Oh the great outdoors! You can almost hear the sound of the river's motion and then suddenly a fish jumps....... this beautiful watercolour on canvas by Sue Goossens beckons, and brings back memories of fishing with my Grandpa and spring canoe trips down the Otter with a dear friend.
