We will bring together exceptional leaders, from entirely different walks of life, to address the question, What did your time at Oxford mean to your personal development as a leader, and how did it enable you to exercise l...eadership in North America? The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and Classic FM mounted a lovely online Christmas concert, in celebration of the work of the University of Oxford's vaccine scientists. It features a new, original carol by John Rutter.

The video of our recent webinar with Mark Carney, UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance, is now available at our web site. Climate change is a notoriously incendiary subject, one at the conjunction of science and politics, where the burdens and benefits of action and inaction are bitterly contested. We are grateful for Mr Carney for offering his views to us, with warmth and thoughtfulness. https://to.oxonian.ca/mark

The Oxford University Societies in Mexico City, Ottawa, and Washington DC are joining hands to host a new "Three Capitals" webinar series. The first will be a talk on heraldry at Oxford, led by John Tepper Marlin, author of Oxford College Arms. He reveals how for centuries, the Colleges' heraldic bearings have told the intriguing and irreverent story of the University and the arc of history itself. Thursday, 20 August 2020... 18h00 EDT / 17h00 CDT https://oxonian.ca/2020/08/18/three-capitals/ See more

We met by videoconference, to plan a set of physically-distant alumni activities. Over the last 900 years, Oxford's members have had to craft plans to weather the Black Death of 1347 and the Great Plague of 1665. We feel (reasonably) confident that we will burn fewer people at the stake during the Pandemic of 2020.

I was the first non-European President of the Oxford University Student Union (Oxford SU). The experience gave me an unvarnished perspective on the clash in Br...itain, between those eager to embrace the future and those locked in a jealous embrace with the past. #Brexit is the outcome of that conflict. I wrote my article in the Oxford Alumni magazine, hoping that Oxford’s thousand-year history of uniting peoples across borders will survive the next four weeks. https://maharaj.ca/brexit
