This week's mantra is something that, if not all, many of us may struggle with. We even may THINK we have forgiveness ourselves but our actions may say other wise. However, the weight that is lifted once your forgive yourself is just...unexplainable. ... Don't beat yourself up. Instead, acknowledge the mistake, understand what may have lead you to make that mistake, learn from it and forgive yourself. Swipe to see last weeks mantra Surround yourself with people that BRING you joy, that BRINGS a smile on your face when you see/speak yon them. Don't be afraid to let go of those that bring you down. We worry too much on what THEY may think once you befriend them but if you don't, at the end, its YOUR energy that gets impacted. With the way the world is now, there are BIGGER things to focus on. Don't spend time on thinking/worrying about their feelings. Its time to let go of what/who is holding you down and time to move forward and SHINE!

When you aren't in the right state of mind, your energy emits that same feeling and could latch on to others. Its not selfish to take time, or even days to focus on yourself. So block off some time from your daily life and do something for YOU

Pose of the Week Guide: Supported Bridge Pose/Salamba Setu Bandha Sarvangasana This week's pose is a restorative version of last week's pose of the week. Stretch and receive all the therapeutic benefits in Supported Bridge Pose, Salamba Setu Bandha Sarvangasana without all the muscular work! Completely surrender and open up to what the Universe has to offer. Benefits:... Passively stretches the shoulders and chest. May induce the parasympathetic nervous system which reduces stress, aids in digestion, regulates blood pressure and more! How to: 1. Start lying on your back on the floor 2. Bend your knees placing feet on the floor hip distance apart with knees stacked directly above ankles 3. Keeping all 4 corners of both feet on the floor press through the heels to lift the hips 4. Slide the block underneath your sacrum (between the lower back and tailbone) 5. Release the hips down, allowing the sacrum to rest on the block 6. Keep thighs parallel and back of head on the floor 7. Arms are straight, fingers reaching forward the heels with backs of hands on the mat biceps spinning up and out 8. Reach the tailbone towards the heels to lengthen the waist 9. Opening across the chest and shoulders 10. Completely release and breathe evenly for 5-10 minutes. 11. To release, lift the hips, remove the block to the side and come back to the floor knees can fall in towards each other or windshield wiper side to side. Modify it: You may use a bolster, folder blanket or cushion instead of the block. If you want further opening across the fronts of the legs then straighten the legs, keeping them parallel and relaxed. If legs are straight falling open too much then use a strap around the thighs. If you are struggling to relax and let go then try adjusting the props, play music or start for shorter durations...meet yourself where you are!

Alright so 4 days into the New Year...how we all feeling? New Years resolution set? Taking on any challenges aka 21 day challenge with Kara ... Regardless stick to your goals. Use January as a buffer. Why? Cause not everyday will be perfect. You are doing some new. A change. Change takes time. Plus...we all know goinf cold turkey never works..nor is it good mentally. Especially during these times. February is where things will stick AND where you have to hold yourself accountable. Why? Cause by then, you should have been able to implement the changes you wanted to see/do. You'll have better control and understanding of your triggers and be able to make better choices.

Pose of the Week Guide: Utkatasana/Fierce Pose(Chair Pose) Swipe to see ALL LEVELS including a new one...Level 0 Connect to the breath in the belly and the fire in thighs in this week's pose. It's no surprise that the translation of sanskrit is Fierce Pose because holding Utkatasana, commonly referred to as Chair Pose, sure is fierce! ... Benefits: Strengthens the core, shoulders, thighs and glutes. Stretches the chest and shoulders. Can reduce flat feet. How to: 1. Begin in mountain pose tadasana. Feet about hip-distance apart (heels in line with the center of the sitting bones). 2. Reach your arms overhead. Arms straight with palms facing in towards one another. 3. Engage the belly drawing the ribs down towards the hips. 4. Bend the knees as you reach the sitting bones down and back. Knees are bent as much as possible with hips above knees and shins not passing the toes. 5. Shift weight back towards the heels. 6. Knees tracking the same direction as the toes. 7. Draw the shoulder blades away from each other and towards the armpits as you lengthen through the fingertips. 8. Hold and breathe for 3-5 breaths. 9.To release fold forward into Uttanasana, Standing Forward Fold or stand tall back up to Tadasana, Mountain pose. Modify it: If shoulders are tired then bring your hands to heart center. If heels lift off the floor then place a folded mat or towel under the heels. Modify it: If having trouble balancing then widen the feet. If hands do not reach the floor then bring the floor to you with a block or other prop. New level...Level 0 when you end up BECOMING a chair! *please do not attempt this at home

Always arriving with a smile (and arriving in style ), a bounce in his step, sharing jokes and stories and leaving each class sweaty but glowing.... UPDATE: Halton Region is currently in the "Control" framework BUT we are still OPEN! With the revised COVID-19 Response Framework, we are allowed to continue holding classes with a reduced class size of 10 members, masks to be worn until you are on your yoga mats, and social distancing to be followed at all times when entering the studio. We have made the necessary adjustments in our studio to ensure adequate spacing between you and other yogis when on your mat, extra time ad...ded in-between classes to allow proper cleaning and hand sanitizers placed through out the studio for you to use. In return we ask that you take care of yourself :) we love seeing you and having you here with us but if you are feeling unwell we do ask that you remain home till you feel 100% better If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

This week's pose of the week is great for grounding! Malasana, Garland Pose is a very deep squat that brings the pelvis very close to the earth. Visualize energy flowing from the very base of the spine through the crown of the head to balance and cleanse the chakras system. Benefits:... Stretches the low back, hips and groin. Aids in digestion and stimulates the metabolism. How to: 1. Begin standing in Tadasana, Mountain pose feet hip distance apart. 2. Turn your toes out slightly from the hips. 3. Bend into your knees, allow your hips to sink towards the mat between your heels. 4. Bring your palms touch in front of your heart in Anjali Mudra, gently pressing the elbows into the knees. 5. Press into the outer edges of both feet, keeping weight back into the heels. 6. Shoulders stacked above hips, legs slightly engaged and sternum lifting away from the navel. 7. Hold and breathe for 3-5 breaths. 8. To release bring your hands to the mat, turn the toe forward as you fold forward into Uttanasana, Forward Fold then lift back up to Tadasana, Mountain pose. Modify it: If you're coming up onto the balls of your feet then place a folded towel or blanket beneath the knees. If knees are falling in first try pressing the elbows into the knees then if there is still more weight in the inner arches then turn the toes more forward and in. If you feel sensation in any of the joints then don’t bend as far into the pose, maybe sit on a block.

Pose of the Week Guide: High Crescent Lunge Find a strong stable foundation and rest in your own strength in High Crescent Lunge! As you connect to the strength within this shape know that this strength is always within you. Benefits: Strengthens the legs. Stretches the shoulders, front leg hamstring and the back leg hip flexors.... How to: 1. Begin in mountain pose tadasana. Feet about hip-distance apart (heels in line with the center of the sitting bones) 2. Step your left foot towards the back edge of the mat keeping feet hip distance apart 3. Bend the front knee so knee is stacked over middle of ankle 4. Reach the arms over head towards the ceiling, biceps by the ears and spinning back 5. High on the ball of the back foot and front knee pointing the same direction as the second toe. 6.Gently draw the low belly in to support the low back. 7. Reach the sternum away from the navel as you spread across the collarbones 8.Hold and breathe for 3-5 breaths. 9. To release plants hands on either side of your front leg foot, step back foot forward into Uttanasana, Standing Forward Fold then stand tall back up to Tadasana, Mountain pose. 10. Repeat on the other side. Modify it: If shoulders are tired then bring your hands to heart center. If you feel unstable then release the back knee to the that into Anjaneyasana, Low Lunge (check out our blog post last week on how to.) And we promise not to make too many changes to the schedule (sorry!). Check the APP for the latest updates. And if the class is "Waitlisted" still JOIN! In case anyone cancels, you will automatically be added! Also, knowing which classes are waitlisted helps us determine if we need to add in ANOTHER similar class. Just a friendly reminder, as we have a 1 class per day policy, we ask that you book classes that you are fully committed too. We get it...its a lot of uncertainty right now and things change rapidly. However, when we don't have members showing up, its an opportunity lost for someone who may have been waitlisted that wanted to come. Suggestion...book the class 2-3 hours BEFORE it starts. Pose of the Week Guide: Uttanasana, Standing Forward Fold This week's pose of the week, Uttanasana, Standing Forward Fold, is a great opener for the back body! Surrender softly towards the earth and breath into the backs of the legs as the spine lengthens. Benefits: Stretches the hamstrings and calves. May aid in digestion, release stress and relieve symptoms of insomnia.... How to: 1. Begin standing in Tadasana, Mountain pose feet around hip distance apart. 2. Hinge from your hips, when you reach 90degrees allow a slight rounding of the lower back. 3. Place your hands on the floor on either side of the feet or in front of the feet. 4. If you cannot reach the floor or have sensation in the joints then bend into your knees. 5. Allow the head to drop towards the earth. 6. Press down evenly into all 4 corners of both feet, lifting the inner arches. 7. Kneecaps pointed forward with quads engaged without locking the knees. 8. Lengthen the crown of the head towards the floor. 9. Hold and breathe for 3-5 breaths. 10. To release allow an inhale to lift you back up to Tadasana, Mountain pose. Modify it: If having trouble balancing then widen the feet. If hands do not reach the floor then bring the floor to you with a block or other prop. See more

Its very easy to simply get wrapped up on thinking what has ALREADY happened. And then slowly, we loose the precious mintues/hours that we have RIGHT now. The past is history.... The future is a mystery. Today is a GIFT; thats why it's called the present. If you ever get lost in your thoughts take a moment and practice 'Ujjayi' breathing: Sitting in a comfortable position, or taking savasana: 1. Inhaled slowly & deeply through the nose for approximately 4 seconds. 2. Hold your breath at the top of the inhale as long as possible. 3. Exhale through your nose slowly for approximately 4 seconds. 4. Hold your breath at the end of the exhale as long as possible. 5. Repeat.

Being extra due diligent in making sure that we all sweat safely :) When class is done, after you all have sprayed down your mats and equipment, we go back and spray EVERYTHING again with our nifty spray gun As we spend more time cleaning, we have amended our studio schedule and class times.... For the MOST ACCURATE, UP TO DATE CLASS SCHEDULE, please check the app. Even when you book a class ahead of time, if WE amend the time, it won't update your "phone calenders". We will TRY our best to avoid changing the time on you but...key word is "TRY" Also, we ask that you come 15 minutes BEFORE class starts...and NOT any earlier. Its nothing personal we PROMISE. We are just busy setting up the studio with required equipment so all that you need to do is lay out your mat and SWEAT Also, in order to maintain social distancing, we want to avoid the lobby getting crowded as this may cause some uneasiness to other yogis. So don't take it personal as we LOVE YOU ALL

Pose of the Week Guide: Goddess Pose This week's pose of the week is great for harnessing your inner strength! It is likely to pop up in both our yoga and fitness based classes! Give it a try and tap into your inner goddess! Benefits:... Strengthens glutes, legs, core, back and arms. Stretches the hips and groin. How to: 1. Begin standing turned sideways in the middle of your mat in Tadasana, Mountain pose. 2. Step your feet about a metre apart, but play around with the position as you get comfortable in the pose. 3. Turn your toes out so your feet are at about a 45 degree angle. 4. Bend into your knees, making sure that your knees stay stacked over your ankles. If you notice that your knees go past your ankles then take your feet further apart. 5. Lift your arms out wide in line with your shoulders and bend your elbows to a 90 degree angle. Palms facing the same direction as your heart in cactus position. 6. Press into the outer edges of both feet. 7. Shoulders stacked above hips, core engaged and tailbone lengthening down to the mat. 8. Hold and breathe for 3-5 breaths. 9. To release step the feet back beneath the hips in Tadasana, Mountain pose. Modify it: If knees are falling in with more weight in the inner arches then turn the toes more forward and in. If you feel sensation in any of the joints then don’t bend as far into the pose. If you want to challenge balance then try coming up onto the balls of your feet!

Member Spot Light: Kim Tham Kim has been a member at our Joshua Creek studio location since Feb 2020 - thats the month we opened! She has been a great yogi - coming in and practicing almost all of our FUSION classes and like her shirt says, she definitely is "KILLING IT"!... And since the re-opening in August, she is gradually getting back in to date, Kim has done 19 of our classes We truly support and understand the uneasiness of coming back into the studio during this time, however with the update of our policies and procedures, we are very happy to see Kim, and so many other members coming back in. Thank you Kim for being a wonderful human being. We love having you here and appreciate the positivity you bring in each visit. ~Namaste
