The Ontario Triage Protocol was secretly released last week and distributed to hospitals. The current document which took over a year to finalize was done with NO consultation with disability activist groups and is extremely discriminatory to adults with disabilities. We don't know if there is one for children yet but the AODA and others are working to find out. Please click the link below and send a letter directly to FordNation and Christine Elliott and let them know how you do not agree with the current protocol. All you have to do is fill in your info and press send and an email will be sent to them. Thank you for your support. https://communitylivingontario.ca//change-ontario-triage-/ Canadian Down Syndrome Society Community Living Ontario

The newest wave of COVID is overloading Ontario intensive care units, which is what triggered Ontario’s latest lockdown. As a result, life-saving critical care in Ontario hospitals could very soon be rationed or triaged. Serious concerns about the triage protocol have been raised by disability organizations such as ARCH Disability Law Centre and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Alliance. This is a time sensitive issue. We encourage you to join us on Tuesd...ay, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. for a virtual information session to learn more about Ontario's triage protocol and why it matters. LEARN MORE AND REGISTER NOW! (ASL and closed captioning will be available) https://us02web.zoom.us//tZcqcOCprz0vGNCXbPcQ_ex90zrWqd-il

Day 6! Canadian Down Syndrome Awareness Week! What a better way to advocate than with a petition. Recently a very vial and hurtful petition was created against people with Down syndrome. Our wonderful community fiercefully managed to get it taken down shortly after it was created however it never should have gotten through. Change.org needs to step up, take responsibility and make the change. When you have a platform that allows views to be shared so freely you need to... have proper measures in place to ensure your company’s guidelines and standards are being followed! Otherwise they are just words. @Change.org be the change you want to see!!
