Wearing a face mask in public spaces is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of Covid19 Other important measures are practicing physical distancing and washing your hands frequently with soap and water or using hand sanitizer that contains at least 70% alcohol. By following our public health guidelines, together we can flatten the curve again! Wishing everyone a happy and safe weekend! #flattenthecurve #staysafe #covid_19 #washyourhands #socialdistancing #letsbeatcovid19together #bekind

Cavities and tooth decay are among the world's most common health problems. They're especially common in children, teenagers and older adults. But anyone who has teeth can get cavities, including infants. If cavities aren't treated, they get larger and affect deeper layers of your teeth. They can lead to a severe toothache, infection and tooth loss. Regular dental visits and good brushing and flossing habits are your best protection against cavities and tooth decay. The ...signs and symptoms of cavities vary, depending on their extent and location. When a cavity is just beginning, you may not have any symptoms at all. As the decay gets larger, it may cause signs and symptoms such as: Toothache, spontaneous pain or pain that occurs without any apparent cause Tooth sensitivity Mild to sharp pain when eating or drinking something sweet, hot or cold Visible holes or pits in your teeth Brown, black or white staining on any surface of a tooth Pain when you bite down You may not be aware that a cavity is forming. That's why it's important to have regular dental checkups and cleanings, even when your mouth feels fine. However, if you experience a toothache or mouth pain, see your dentist as soon as possible.

Starting the day right! Our patients always comment about how great our work chemistry is, and we attribute this to our constant communication and positive outlook as a team. We make sure to start our week with a morning huddle, discussing our plan for the days ahead, as well as needs and requirements as a team. It’s a time for us to hang out , have a few laughs (or nag about the pandemic), to talk about our goals and creat long lasting friendships. (It also happens ...to be the best excuse for Dr T’s coffee break! ) At Pacific Dental Centre we pride ourselves in creating a comfortable and memorable experience for our patients, and we have an amazing team that helps achieve that goal! Dentistry is frightening for most young ones, and the addition of faceshields, masks, gowns doesnt really help! So how do we get them to relaxIts crucial to keep kids entertained during their visits. At Pacific Dental Centre, we try to do this by satisfying their curiosity! By explaining every step along the way, making sure theyre able to express their concerns, and keeping a fun and happy spirit so that they can leave with a smile! There are however a few things that ca...n be done to put your child at ease during their visit start young- The earlier you begin bringing your child to the dentist, the more normal the experience will seem. Starting your child young will give them a chance to get used to visiting the dentist and allows them to become familiar with the office surroundings prepare them for their visits - this can be done by talking to your child about their upcoming dentist appointment. No need to get into too much detail, just keep it simple. Mention that the dentist is going to count their teeth and check their smile! Be positive but realistic : be sure to use positive phrases such as clean, healthy, strong teeth and avoid words like pain and needles. Its also important to be realistic about their experience. For example, if theyre getting a filling, using words like fixing the tooth or removing sugar bugs would give them the impression that theres work to be done without hinting discomfort nor losing their trust!! . . . . . #pacificdentalcentre #yvrdentist #familydentist #cosmeticdentistry #buzzfeedvancouver #dentalgirlgang #dentalmom #kitsilanodentist #kitsilanomoms #vancouvermom #covid19safety #stopthespread See more

Lets talk about Periodontitis! The gingiva (gum tissue) and the bone surrounding the teeth are called the periodontal tissue, and theyre very important in ensuring proper support for our teeth. Periodontitis (per-e-o-don-TIE-tis), also called gum disease, is a serious gum infection that damages the soft tissue and causes excessive spaces (aka pockets). without treatment, this infection can destroy the bone that supports your teeth Periodontitis can cause teeth to loosen... or even lead to tooth loss in severe cases. The good news is that Periodontitis largely preventable. Because it is usually the result of poor oral hygiene, brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily and getting regular dental checkups can greatly improve your chances of successful treatment for periodontitis and can also reduce your chance of developing it! So how do we know if you have periodontitis? At your routine dental check-up, we take time to evaluate your gum tissue and measure the spaces (pockets) to make sure theres no underlying bone loss or gum disease. That is why routine dental check-ups are so important in maintaining your oral health! Make sure you bring up gum health at your next dental visit! . . . . . . . #vancouverdentist #pacificdentalcentre #yvrdentist #cosmeticdentist #periodontitis #oralhygiene #hygienist #kitsilanodentist #vancouvermom #buzzfeedyvr #dentalgirlgang See more

How do we avoid getting cavitiesAs dental professionals we get this question on a daily basis. So here are some tips that help keep your teeth healthy 1brush at least twice a day and for 2mins each time More often than not patients report not brushing long enough or skipping night time brushing which highly increases the risk of cavities forming 2make sure youre flossing between your teeth. When you floss, make sure the floss is hugging your tooth surfaces and ...removing food debris and plaque. 3finally, routine dental check-ups are key in making sure youre doing a good job . . . . . . . . #oralhealth #dentistvancouver #yvrdentist #pacificdentalcentre #dentalgirlgang #dentalgirls #dentalhygiene See more
