Asters and Goldenrods are only seen on long summer days but after reading this chapter in our book club, I was inspired to paint this perfect pair. As we found out in Robin Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass these flowers usually grow together in nature. And if you’re an artist you know yellow and purple are complimentary - they just look good together! This was Robin’s love at first sight as an infant. Do you remember your visions as an infant? Still time to join our book club to dive deep Wednesdays at 4pm PT. #astersandgoldenrod #braidingsweetgrass #sweetgrassbook #cynthiasbookclub

Calm with a bit of smoke today.
Really cool looking clouds last night as the sun set.
Lots of beach today!
Colour in the garden brings joy :)
Moments in the garden.
We made up some sage, lavender and cedar bundles for smudging this week. These will take a long time to dry which Ill use to clear out the old at winter solstice time. It smells so wonderful!
Mama takes out the hosta flowers while the baby munches on some strawberry leaves.
Daisies are out.
Like a splash of paint on canvas.
Lunch is ready! I think I need a Detox! Anyone else?
From under the lights every few days now.
Not much sun these days but they seem to ripen ok. This is the start of something good.
Im in heaven. Spinach paneer and Naan. This ones going in the cookbook!
4 small jars of arugula pesto with cashews, garlic, oil and lemon to brighten a winter meal with dressing, pasta, appy or veggies. Into the freezer for future meals. Yum!
Planted this tomato slip from a cutting thats been in water for a week. I think it will catch up to the mother plant once the sun hits us again. Also put some garlic in for my seasonal planting and buried a rooted onion in the moist soil. You can hear the moisture in the air cleaning and nurturing. Blessings to all.
What do you see in the cloud formation tonight?
Our Lettuce Grow Op

Cool spider on my sage bud. Im going to have to trim these!
Surreal sky tonight. Blessings to All
Cant believe how quickly these lettuce and spinach are growing under the lights! Time for a bit of a harvest.
Hummingbird is really making some noise.
Isnt this a cute little trail!? Its salmon berry bushes, Rhodos and a dogwood at the entrance to the trail with several other flowery things with bees and hummingbirds. So fun.
Yesterday at the beach.
How easy is it to grow a fig tree?
Clipping beautiful bundles of sage to dry just before they bloom. Smells heavenly!
Heres another one of my favorites. Lovage can take the place of celery and its so good chopped on spuds or eggs, cold or hot. Grows really tall, comes back every year and its up early in the season. Yum!
Amazing skies lately.
How easy is it to grow parsley?
So many views from the same window.
Incredible light tonight.
I remember Earth Day in the 70s.
Watching the hummingbirds for dinner entertainment.
4 out of these 5 greens for lunch are grown out of pots. Very easy to grow...
