We love you, basses!
Following our feeble attempts at conducting on Zoom this week, PSC members might like to watch this on Monday evening!! The whole series has been very interesting, and you can watch all previous episodes on YouTube.
If you have music in your life, you’ll never be short of a friend! Pacific Spirit Choir is keeping our community together with weekly Zoom meetings: a wonderful mix of vocal training, music history, social time and, of course, singing! Now, as many friends and family go into lockdown again in Europe, we hope that music continues to sustain everyone through these difficult times. Let us know in the comments below: how are you keeping music in your life, without your same-room choirs?
Choral geeks, we're in this alto-gether.
PSC is proud to unveil its plans for Fall 2020! Members old and new can sign up for 12 weekly Zoom meetings which will be a combination of vocal training from our assistant conductors plus the opportunity to learn a different vocal work each week, with our Music Director, Gerry van Wyck. The course begins Wednesday 16th September, but we have an introductory Zoom social on Wednesday 9th September at 7.30pm (PST), where you can find out more. Existing Choir members wi...ll be sent an invitation by email, but we hope that past members and distant supporters will join us too. Send a message via the PSC Facebook page if you would like to be sent an invitation to join the first meeting! Watch the video below to see Gerry van Wyck outlining the Fall programme. Hope to see you soon! https://www.dropbox.com//20%20Fall%20PSC%20Welcome%20Video
If you want to see how well you remember Messiah from our performance last December, you might be interested to sing along with this British choral project on Sunday. All the performers have made recordings at home, including the orchestra and soloists. Over 8,000 videos were edited together to make this event happen! It’s at 7.30pm UK time, so 11.30am on Sunday morning for us here in Vancouver. You can watch on the website, or on YouTube: https://youtu.be/X96ZS9_rbCE On the website you will also find details of their ‘summer school’ where you can learn a variety of short pieces over four weeks, and in September they will be learning Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Concert dress is not required!
Maybe next year we will be on tour and see the beautiful tulips in The Netherlands. 75th Anniversary + 1? celebrations in 2021?
