Today The North Bay Parry Sound Health unit declared a "community outbreak" of COVID-19. As a precautionary measure we will be closing The PADDLE Program for the remainder of this week. To be clear, this is precautionary and not due to exposure at The PADDLE Program. Virtual programming will continue. We will keep you updated as we assess and the situation evolves. We kindly ask you to communicate this to your private workers if applicable. If you are having difficulty access...ing virtual programming due to equipment or technical issues please reach out via email to [email protected]. We encourage everyone to follow the advice of The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: Assume everyone outside of your home has COVID-19 and take precautions. Limit travel outside the home: To attending school or work - if unable to work from home; For essential trips for groceries, medication, and medical appointments. Do not travel out of the district. Avoid socializing for now. Limit exercise and recreation to outdoor spaces where physical distancing is possible. If you have COVID-19 symptoms or feel ill, isolate immediately and arrange to be tested for COVID-19. Thank you for your understanding of the situation. Stay well. Megan Johnson Executive Director

The Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon is holding its 74th Annual Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon on December 5, 2020 from 4pm until 8pm. It will be a vir...tual presentation of entertainment from the past couple of telethons due to the pandemic. We are respectively canvassing local businesses and organizations for donations. We would usually post a list of all of our donations/sponsors during the Telethon but this year we can really just post your donation on our Website and Facebook Page as the Telethon is not live. It will be on YourTV on channels 12 and 700 and streamed at www.canadoretv.com and www.lionschildrenstelethon.com or listen to it on Country 600 CKAT Radio. The Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon supports families and children in need at Christmas in the areas of Bonfield; Mattawa; Callander; Powassan; Trout Creek; South River; Sundridge; Burk’s Falls; Kearney; Argyle and Restoule. We would like to thank you in advance for your support. Thank you for considering this and please send us a message if you have any questions or concerns. See more

"I am 'JUST' a support worker." "I am 'JUST' a DSP." Don't 'JUST' yourself.... Being a direct support professional is cool because, in essence, you are paid to be human. Paid to explore the commonalities of the human condition. Paid to discover the incredible diversity of the human spirit. Paid to spend your day doing something that matters, something that makes a difference, something that you can be proud of. Done right, you have chosen both a job and a passion, both a passion and a mission, both a mission and a purpose. There are those who spend their lives looking for purpose. You will rise to it each morning. And that's a hell of a way to start the day. Dave Hingsburger | Open Future Learning
