First, thank you sincerely to each and every one of you that choose Paddy's Pub & Kitchen to order your food and liquor. We appreciate it very much. I may get s...ome negative feedback from this post but I feel that some things need to be said openly between all of us as a community and to have an open discussion with one another if I . I have been a resident of St Albert for 15 years now. I see and hear from St Albert residents how much we support local businesses, small businesses, and independent businesses. How much we love them and the variety of choices here in our city. Tonight I was out on a delivery at 8pm and drove by a number of those businesses we say we support in our city, The Ridge Social Eatery a new restaurant and pub, Connor's Pub, LB's here for many years, and a few others. All were closed at or around 8pm on a Wednesday. They are closed because we as a community are not ordering from them enough to provide the revenue required to keep them open. No, I do not know the financial details of each specific location, but I do suspect that if we as a community do not rally behind each and every one of them we will see many of them closed permanently. Truth be told I should also be closed with the volume of takeout and delivery currently happening but, a) I am stubborn, b) I do not want to lose touch with you our valued customer, c) I am stubborn Truth be told though the orders here at Paddy's Pub & Kitchen have been far slower during this restriction period than previous lockdowns. Like 70% less orders than the last lockdown. That may be because of it being BBQ season, financial constraints, lockdown frustration, or other reasons. I spoke to a number of owners that are experiencing the same thing with few orders coming in. Yet I see a restaurant close to our location with delivery drivers lined up, a large chain that I support regularly when no lockdowns are in place, I know their staff and consider them an excellent company. I am not bashing them, against them, or not supporting them in any way. But I am pointing out that they and other large chains like Boston Pizza, Original Joe's, Canadian Brewhouse, Moxie's and others will still be here after lockdowns end. They have the corporate and head office support and budgets in order to survive the closures and lockdowns. Small independent businesses simply do not have the ability to survive as a group to get to the other side. I understand that locals do work at the larger chains and I do not want to see them without orders or with less income, but we will lose the small businesses and their employees if we continue to support more larger chains than smaller shops, that is the reality these businesses face and they may not open back up without our support. I am not asking that no one orders from a large chain, just that you think about the small local ones each time you order. I go to Canadian Brewhouse, Earls, and Original Joes when all are open, I know the people at each place and support them equally during regular times. But during this recent lockdown I have ordered from Jade Village, DJ's Pizza, Capital Pizza, Fruitella Donair, and other local shops. Our position here at Paddy's is a bit unique, we have an excellent landlord, we negotiated a lease during Covid that planned for lockdowns somewhat (not easy but we will manage), and I am not calling out to you to just order from Paddy's. Please do order from us when you can and include us in the locally owned small business group. We are offering new items and a new spring menu in the next posts to offer better options and more value to earn your business. But there are others to support and save through these times. I am calling out to you to ask that you support and save our small businesses in the food service industry including. Connors, XI19, Louisa's, Jacks Burger Shack, Jade Village, LB's, DJ's Pizza, The Ridge Social Eatery, Sarah's Kitchen and all others. (apologies to those I have missed). Without them we are left with just the large chains and few choices in the future. As a community we need to rally around these small shops (yes, Paddy's as well) to help them get through this or we will be facing more and more large chains and less of those unique offerings. I for one will choose small local businesses over chains each and every time until full reopening occurs at which time I will go back to Brewhouse, Boston Pizza, OJ's and others to offer my support once again. Hopefully this post generates a bit of additional support for these small businesses in the coming weeks until all can reopen fully. Thank you for reading and for supporting local during these times. Sometimes things just do not go well. And tonight was one of those days on a particular SkipTheDishes order. But I wanted to share this experience with you to illustrate who we are and what we stand for here at Paddy’s Pub & Kitchen. The order came in and was not properly handled, one of our new servers took the order, and did it correctly. However, once prepared it was packaged incomplete, missing sides and gravy. And when it arrived it was not prepared properly, something t...he server misses on the takeout or delivery packaging. The customer was kind enough to call in with her concerns (thank you Joy), instead of simply using social media or SkipTheDishes to leave a bad review. On our call we agreed to provide dinner tomorrow night in order to get it right. But Joy had said during our call that she had been hungry tonight. It bothered me to hear this and wait until tomorrow. So I texted her and said that we would be redoing the meal right away, including a complimentary bottle of wine for the inconvenience, and delivering right away, as well as tomorrow’s meal. She was kind to accept. I spoke to the kitchen staff and explained that it, and all other meals, had to be sent out to our standard. But I was of course worried because we didn’t yet know the cause of the poor food arriving. I picked up the meal and delivered it hoping all was good. Shortly afterwards I received this from the customer: Thanks so much, we really appreciate everything. No need to bring dinner tomorrow, we will come by sometime and and dine in. Truly appreciate you coming out in this cold. Everything was great! I share this because these mishaps can and will occur when a locally owned establishment tries to cook fresh, quality ingredients over prepackaged frozen. Prepackaged frozen is, if nothing else, consistent. But we choose fresh, high quality ingredients over prepackaged frozen every time. When I got back to Paddy’s one of our cooks had walked out leaving another to have to cover the shift. This tells us and illustrates where the issue likely arose. Tomorrow we will sit and discuss how to prevent a reoccurrence, first what we as owners and management can address to better support

Hi everyone. We hope that you are having a fantastic New Years Eve. About ten days before the lockdown we started the Christopher Daniel Shebib (CDS) Burn 2020 Campaign in honour of our son that passed due to an opiod overdose in 2016. We asked that people write on a star anything that they would like to burn saying goodbye to 2020. While the campaign was cut short by the lockdown many of you donated and created a star.... The funds raised will go to emergency services to assist with addiction recovery. Thank you St Albert. At midnight we will burn the stars inside our smoker to put 2020 behind and welcome a new start in 2021 live on Facebook. Have a Happy New Years and we can’t wait to serve you in 2021.

Hello St Albert. Good News/Bad News kind of post. Paddy's Pub & Kitchen will be closing at 11 pm (alcohol service until 10pm) each day for the next two weeks as per the AHS Guidelines announced today. The good news is that we are still open for breakfast starting at 7 am everyday, closing at 10pm, and our New Happy Hour we are launching today runs from 3-6 pm and 9-close Sunday through Thursday each week. Let's all work together to support Local businesses as these restrict...ions are in effect for the next two weeks. Businesses will need everyone's support and patronage during their open hours up to 10 pm each day. We as a group will be sure to go to local establishments ourselves within the permitted times to ensure business owners experience minimal impact as we all work together to bring the numbers down over the next two weeks. We will also be suspending our live music performances for the next two weeks in order to assist in getting the Covid-19 numbers down together.
