****SOLD, thank you!***** Latest chair is a Mission style, made from reclaimed solid white Ash wood and Italian cognac butter leather. (Mission style is a design that emphasizes horizontal and vertical lines and flat panels that accentuate the grain of the wood. The origins date back to the 1880’s. Traditionally Mission style furniture is done with oak, this one is a bit of a twist of the original using ash.)
From this to that...
The process to make one of my chairs, starts right in the forest or farm. A tree is chosen to be cut down or salvaged from there I cut the log into rough lumber using my mill. Then the wood then has to be stored and cured before it can used. This is the longest part of the whole process, waiting for the wood to be ready. Once it is ready, I design a chair in my mind, then begin choosing pieces of rough lumber that best suits each piece I’ll need to produce. From there, I ...will work and shape each piece. Once each piece is ready, I begin to assemble the chair. Then the final sanding and chosen finish. Then the leather work starts, making a pattern to fit the chair, cutting the leather and upholstering the chair. Then it is finished and ready to go home to it’s new owner! The below chair was made from salvaged ash from a neighbour’s yard fire. See more
