Time to celebrate!!! I’ve had Liz for about 2 years. She came to me as a dog who loved humans but was scared of them. Slowly she opened up more and more but letting me pet her here and there. For anyone who knows me they know that I worry so much about animals being out in the cold. I cringe when the weather drops because I feel so guilty with Liz being outside. (She has an insulted dog house with a bed and blankets as well as an insulted shed with straw). Anyways the passed... two nights have been hovering around -40 and I could bear to see her outside so I’ve been cornering her and bringing her into the house. This morning I got up and did my normal schedule of putting the dogs out for a bathroom break. I let the other dogs in knowing that Liz would be outside for the day because she wouldn’t want to come back in. I went to my room to start getting ready and when I came back to the kitchen she was staring longingly into my house through the patio door. I thought well I’ll offer her to come in. Sure enough she wagged her tail and pranced in as if it was her new normal. My fiancé and I may have done a bit of a celebration with her. She was spoiled with treats and I’m hoping this becomes her new norm as I feel so much more relaxed having her laying on a warm bed in the house with her siblings.

A DOG is NOT just for Christmas. A DOG is for LIFE! 'T’was the night before Christmas and all thru the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. Our ...stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds with no thought of their dog that was filling their head. With mom in her kerchief and I in my cap knew our dog was cold, yet didn’t care about that. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, figuring our dog was free of his chain and into the trash. The moon on the crest of the new fallen snow gave the luster of mid-day to objects below. When what to my wondering eyes should appear but Santa Claus with his eyes full of tears. He unchained our dog once... ...so lively and quick last year’s Christmas present now painfully sick. More rapid than eagles he called the dog’s name and our dog ran to him despite all of his pain. On Dasher, on Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen, on Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch to the top of the wall Let’s find this dog a home where he will be loved by all. I knew in an instant there’d be no gifts this year, for Santa had made one thing exceedingly clear. The gift of a dog is not just for the season. We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons. In our haste to think of the kids a cool gift there was one very important thing that we missed. A dog should be family, and cared for the same. You don’t give a gift, and then put it on a chain. And I heard him explain as he rode out of sight, You weren’t given a gift, you were given a life. A DOG IS NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS A DOG IS FOR LIFE!!!!!!!' See more

Ravi took a car ride today. He’s so good in the car. He is looking for a special home. He needs a home that is willing to work with him to gain trust of humans and be less reactive. He needs a patient owner who will give him time to settle and get comfortable. He’s been in my house for about a week and he is already so settled. Ravi would do best on an acreage with another dog to play with or with a big fenced yard where he can be outside lots. He currently spends 99% of his time outside and is totally happy with that. Apply to adopt Ravi!

Even though Ravi is full of energy he still enjoys when he gets pets and belly scratches! He is such a great dog when he warms up and he is very smart and responsive. Here’s to hoping he can find his perfect home soon!

Ravi is so good with pups of all sizes! He likes his little Pomeranian foster brother and here he is playing with another WHARF alumni Scout. He was was gentle making sure not to hurt the little puppy.

Paige’s Foster Friends 16.05.2021

Ravi just wants to pop by this morning to wish everyone a good morning! He is patiently waiting for someone to adopt him. He’s such a playful sweet boy. He will follow you around everywhere you go. He is perfectly fine with sleeping outside at night. That way he can play when he gets the zoomies.

Liz is my favourite dog around here. She’s almost been here a year and she’s come so far. When she first came she wouldn’t even take food out of my hand. Now the odd time she will let me pet her. She is the leader of the entire pack. Go figure since she’s the only female!
